When he came back, you'd think cheers and congratulations would be in order.

But what greeted him was far from that.

Hatred, rejection, and blame — even from his own people.

He had been an undercover operative, yet also a public figure.

Because of the mission's confidentiality, the crowd that welcomed him remained largely unaware of what had happened behind the scenes.

He was prepared for hostility.

In fact, he brought an umbrella to shield himself from whatever objects the crowd might throw at him.

He had already accepted that his country had abandoned him. And it seemed the local government had taken it upon themselves to carry out what no one else would.

Among the crowd, he saw local police managing traffic.

It was a good decision to return to his hometown, especially with the ongoing elections.

Thanks to his dual citizenship, he was able to register as a voter. Having that kind of power, just from holding a passport, was a statement.
