Sera just gave him an ‘or really?’ look in lue of an answer, knowing he was going to at least attempt to be that man. She knew better, knew Mitch could go on for hours with his reasons why even the manliest of men in appearance are secretly boy lovers on the inside. Mainly because manly men, really built manly men in his words, love looking at themselves in a mirror meaning they have an appreciation of the manly physique.
He shook her cold coffee cup at her in question and she just nodded, telling him she could more then use a refill. “Guess we’ll just have to wait and see won’t we?” he winked as he turned for the kitchenette, “Cute outfit by the way, very bohemian chic. I think I might want to borrow those jeans.”
And the sad part was, he would probably wear them better then she was. She had somewhat of a figure but she was…soft around the middle, unlike the very trim Mitch. She wasn’t fat, but she wasn’t fit either. But again, with everything else she had to deal with on a daily basis, eating healthy and exercising was on the bottom of the priority list. As it was the only nutrition her body had seen today was the stone cold espresso Mitch was pouring down the sink and the blueberry torte she had grabbed with it.
Rolling her eyes at Mitch she listened to the sounds of coffee pots and mugs clunking around as she dragged her bag over to the desk and pulled out her books. If Mitch hadn’t called the Dean to let him know she was here, then it meant he was already with someone or busy. She peeked at the time in the bottom corner of Mitch’s computer monitor. Well maybe that was why he was busy, she was almost half an hour early. He wouldn’t have been expecting her yet.
She hadn’t looked at the clock when she left her last class, she just knew she wouldn’t have enough time to go back to the house and get back on campus in time so she just hopped on the shuttle over here. But that was alright, if Mitch didn’t have some gossip to fill the time, the outline on her thesis paper would. Should actually, she was supposed to have the outline in by midweek next week. And since she was interning at her Uncle’s office in Vancouver this weekend on top of all the meetings she was going to have to line up in the next few days, plus getting ready for rush week…yeah, this was about the only chance she was going to get.
But when Mitch brought over coffee for the both of them she chose to give him her full attention even after he asked if she was busy. So instead of her homework that desperately needing starting never mind finishing she listened as Mitch prattled off all he knew of the mystery man. From what Mitch could gather he was an investigator come to talk with the Dean, and though that word tied a quick knot in her stomach, Sera dismissed it quickly. Even her Uncle, for all his connections, couldn’t work that fast.
And it wasn’t like the Dean wasn’t into a few underhanded things himself, besides sleeping with anything with a slit between its legs he was “invested” in her Uncle’s run in office, which was a mar against anyone in her eyes. Sure he wasn’t running drugs across the border or anything, but Sera had heard that on a few occasions the man was likely to take money from parents wishing for a better grade for their students. Insuring they rose to the top of their class and as such became the most desirable to businesses and corporations. The same ones the Dean was taking money from in exchange for coercing those students the companies wanted for themselves into choosing them.
It was just an endless cycle of corruption.
Adding to Sera’s confidence was the fact that the man had set up the appointment yesterday, making a few back and forth calls between Mitch and himself. And again, even if her Uncle had heard about the incident there was no way the Feds would have had someone out here already, a week from now maybe, but not the day after. So unless he was just checking up on what had happened with the other Angels then he couldn’t have been there for her. Plus Mitch said he made no mention of it being Parliament business, just that he was investigating at the request of a higher official. Which could mean anyone really.
