She took one more sip of her coffee and then lifted her chin, looking all the part of the stuck up sorority member she was supposed to be and made her way to the main building. She had on her grey Rock and Republic Booties and her dark rinse William Rast jeans, her black and silver striped Alice and Olivia sweater under her black Balenciaga wool coat, with her charcoal Chloe bag hanging off one arm and her pearls around her neck. Her hair was done, her makeup- though sparse- was immaculate, all an expected part of hers and every other uppity sorority on Greek Row. Even if you didn’t have money you were expected to look it as you were a face of the sorority.
For her efforts she received the dirty looks and whispered insults from the other sororities with their tables set up for accepting pledges in the quad. Just one more thing Sera had to do, rush week was but a few days away hence the open house.
She gave a smile and a wave to her own group of sisters as she passed, even tipping down her Chanel sunglasses to give an obvious wink to Duncan at a nearby table. They weren’t together really, but it was assumed they were for all the time they spent together behind closed doors. They had tried it once, did everything any other twenty something would do when away from their parents at college. And though they were very much compatible, they really didn’t have anything in common, no shared interests outside the Angels. And for the both of them great sex wasn’t a good enough reason to stay together, so they kept up the ruse the best they could but they weren’t physical anymore then they had to be.
They were getting ready to stage a big break up shortly though so Duncan could “officially” start dating this cute girl in his physics class. He was going to call her a tease, a flirt. She was going to accuse him of cheating on her with Natalie even though he hadn’t made his move yet, a typical breakup for the college scene really.
Now those two belonged together. Simply because Natalie could actually keep up in a conversation with Duncan when he was going on about the new something or other processor.
Sera herself had absolutely no prospects, and that was fine with her. A relationship was the last thing she was worried about right now.
She pushed through the doors to the administration offices, completely disregarding the cheerful hello from the girl managing the help desk. Jillian was a sophomore and should’ve known Sera by her reputation, as a bitch. But maybe it was just out of habit she said hello because she quickly sank back behind her counter upon realizing who blew in.
She had rushed last year, but she wasn’t the Angel’s material. She was sweet, too sweet. She would have crumbled under the pressure of a simple interrogation. She found her place though, the pink and pretty Deltas took her in and she seemed happy there, as the pink sweater vest with the Delta symbol embroidered on it over her crisp white shirt would tell. They wouldn’t have given it to her unless she was a keeper.
Sera wasn’t currently wearing anything with her sorority’s insignia on it, but as a senior she wasn’t required too. Like Jillian, everyone who needed to know already knew who she was without her having to advertise it.
After a quick ride up the elevator with the typical paper pusher types, Sera got out on the fifth floor, waited a few minutes for the delivery man in front of her to finish hitting on the secretary so she could sign in and headed down the carpeted hall to the Dean’s office.
She didn’t knock when she reached the door, being very accustomed with this part of the campus because of her status in the sorority she knew she was walking into the reception area.
But instead of being met with another cheerful hello from the desk on the right she got a scornful, “oh, it’s only you.”
“My apologies Mitch,” she laughed off the man’s quip, watching as he pulled the compact mirror he had stuffed under the desk when she walked in back out, “were you expecting Bradley Cooper?”
