"The week was already a lot and now I just can't sleep..." Tina was highly disappointed, she had taken her daughters to their extracurricular activities, pulled her standard shifts, and tried her hardest to avoid conspiracy theories.
"Baby, I promise that it's going to work out, do you feel like you need medicine in order to rest?" Michael eyed his woman and she began to take some sips of water.
"No.. I don't want that to bother my insides, I really just want to be able to rest, but I'm being haunted by a girl."
Michael's eyes widened, he titled his head to the side, "the girl, tonight, she was crying. When I listened to her I could feel her deep, deep regret as if she hated that she made a decision. I didn't want to hear her crying in my dream tonight but it felt uncontrollable as if she had to come to me."
"Do you know her?"
"I don't. When I saw her face, I couldn't recognize anything about her, she was beautiful though, some of her face was bruised as if she had been through something devastating and some of her beauty was taken from her. From what I could tell about her, she had to have had some type of love in her life. I could feel that she was into somebody, I just don't know who. The girl was intelligent, she had a different type of intelligence that made her stand out from others."
"That's different..." Michael admitted, "maybe you can try talking to her...? I know that sounds cliche but there are some books that talk about women who talk to people in their sleep, have you tried that?"
"I'm going to try to but I don't know when I'm going to have another dream. Right now, I know when I go to sleep I'll be able to be left alone, but later on... I'm not so sure."
Michael nodded his head, trying to understand, "it's around 11:00 PM, do you need some water? It's not that late but it's late."
"I'll grab a glass," Tina sighed to herself.
"No, I have it." Michael kissed her on the forehead and then made his way down stairs.
Tina was sitting up on her silky pajamas staring at the floor trying to figure out where she went wrong in her life. Tina wasn't sure what to expect but she didn't like what was happening around her. She made her way to the window in her room and looked out, it seemed to have been drizzling or rainy lightly, either or she couldn't tell the difference. "Michael," she called out to him, "Look out the window baby!"
Michael replied back, "Yea! I see it, it's raining hun, not sure what to expect with the weather."
Up until now, there weren't many news reports. As Michael made his way back up the stairs he began to take in her frustration, "I don't know what's going on, but I do know that whatever it is... something isn't right." He handed her the glass as she stood by the window and rubbed his head, "something is off."
"What do you mean baby?" Tina whispered to him.
"The rain is over the grass, it's like there's something happening with how it's coming out of the sky and the way it's accumulating. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before, from the window, it doesn't seem to be pouring down, but on the ground there's large clumps of it."
"Maybe it poured down when we were asleep." Tina took a sip of water, "I know they predicted a storm for the weekend, but I wasn't expecting to wake up to an entire puddle either, the rain could have slowed down."
"I don't know baby, I just feel like something isn't right." Tina grabbed her husband and brought his head close into her body.
"I don't know either, it's a weird night, we should just relax. I'll put this up and crawl back in the bed."
She went down the stairs clenching her jaw, feeling annoyed that this entire night was playing out the way it was. As she made her way down the stairs she thought about the next week, she wanted her girls to enjoy themselves and continue to make good grades, they were sleeping nice and soundly in their rooms.
She took the last swig of her water and placed the glass in the sink, turning on the faucet slowly she rinsed it. The water washed the cup and she began to hymn to herself, it was a sweet lullaby her mother would sing to her when she was a little girl. Once she was finished washing the cup and the other dishes in the sink she looked out of the kitchen's window to see the ground. Tina felt she couldn't really make out what was happening so she moved towards their back door, before she could open it she noticed the water that was seeping through and stinging the floor. Tina was slow, she didn't place her feet in the water at all because she could see how it was already detonating the material; she paid close attention to how the water ate away at the crack under the door and was slowly causing her floor to desintegrate, "what the fuck..." she murmured to herself, "what the fuck is happening?"
She took a deep breath, looking around her to ensure none of her family members were near by she tried her hardest to examine the water beneath her. The more she looked at it the more she could tell that the water had no sense of care for the material, it was eating it alive and she could smell the raw material burning as it continued to make its way towards her kitchen cabinet. Tina backed up, rubbing her hand through her hair trying to figure out what to do next, she wasn't quite sure. Tina looked around, keeping her cool as to not alarm her family members, but nothing was making total sense to her. Keeping it to herself she remembered what she came into the kitchen for and then proceeded to make her way back to bed.
Upstairs, her husband looked her in the face, "baby?"
"Yes?" She eyed him down while trying to take a swig of the water.
"Are you alright?" His question stumbled out of his mouth as if he didn't want to believe that he was asking her.
"I'm going to be okay, it's just that I can't believe that this storm is happening the way it is. I pray this slows up, I know we wanted to have quality time and I don't want the girls to feel trapped in the house."
"I agree baby, well, make your way back to sleep."
"I am," he leaned in to kiss her and she kissed him back gently, "I love you" she said to him as she looked into his eyes.
"I love you too."
With that, she rolled over and took a few deep breaths before drifting back into her sleep.
