You'd known Danny Fenton for years.
The quiet, slightly clumsy guy who always seemed a little tired, a little distracted — but still somehow the sweetest person you'd ever met.
You also knew about the ghost attacks — everybody in Amity Park did.
What you didn't know, at least not at first, was that the mysterious hero who always showed up to save the day — glowing white hair, neon green eyes — was Danny too.
At least, not until tonight.
You were walking home late from the library, arms full of textbooks, when a ghost swooped out of the alleyway.
You stumbled back, heart hammering — when suddenly a white blur shot past you, slamming into the creature with a burst of green light.
"Danny... Phantom," you breathed, recognizing him instantly.
Your hands shook — partly from fear, partly from awe.
The fight was messy — beams of ectoplasmic energy flying everywhere — but in the end, Danny won.
He floated down, chest heaving, and for a second he just... stared at you.
Then, in a flicker of light, his hair darkened, his suit melted away, and standing there — looking exhausted and sheepish — was Danny Fenton.
Your Danny.
You dropped your books.
"Danny?!" you gasped.
He rubbed the back of his neck, cheeks flushing red. "Surprise?"
You blinked at him.
All the times he'd run off during ghost attacks.
All the times he came to school with bruises and lame excuses.
It all clicked.
"You're... you're him," you said softly, stepping closer. "All this time?"
He winced. "Please don't hate me."
You laughed — an incredulous, breathless sound.
"Hate you?" you repeated, heart pounding. "You just saved my life, dummy."
He blinked, looking genuinely stunned.
"Wait... you're not scared of me?"
"Of course not," you said, nudging his shoulder gently. "You're still Danny."
For a second, he just stared at you, like you'd said the most unbelievable thing in the world.
Then —
Impulsively, awkwardly —
He leaned forward and kissed your cheek, quick and warm and a little clumsy.
"I've wanted to do that for a while," he mumbled, face flaming.
You grinned.
"Next time," you teased, "maybe you can aim for my lips."
Danny turned bright red — but the way he smiled at you made your chest feel light and electric.
Maybe falling for a half-ghost hero was crazy.
But in Amity Park, crazy was just another word for normal.
A few days after you found out Danny's secret, he showed up outside your window.
Literally floated there.
You almost knocked over your lamp in surprise when you saw him — glowing faintly against the night sky, a nervous smile on his lips.
