Days passed.
Sunghoon figured after the way they left things — Heeseung wouldn't talk to him again.
He hoped, maybe, he'd finally take the hint.
But of course, that wasn't Heeseung.
⸻
Later, on set, someone turned on the speakers between shoots — a playlist running soft in the background while the crew reset.
One of Heeseung's songs came on.
Sunghoon didn't react. Not outwardly.
But inside, it twisted. Just a little.
One of the newer songs. The kind with lyrics that stung if you listened too closely.
Sunghoon didn't look up.
He didn't need to.
"So," Heeseung said, casually sliding into the empty seat across from him, "what do you think?"
Sunghoon kept his eyes on the screen. "Of what?"
"My songs."
"didn't listen to any."
"Oh come on," Heeseung said with a low laugh. "Cut the act."
"Don't flatter yourself."
Heeseung leaned back in his chair, smirking.
"So you're really gonna stand here and pretend you don't know who they're about?"
Sunghoon finally looked at him, eyes cold. "I thought they were 'universal' experiences. Nothing specific. Remember that?"
Heeseung just smiled. "So you did watch the interview."
"I was in a studio. The TV was on. Seori's a fan. Don't let it get to your head."
"I'm not," Heeseung said, raising both hands like surrender. "Just saying , you were always my best audience."
Sunghoon exhaled, already done with the conversation. "Look, I'm busy. If you're just here to mess around, go find someone else."
Heeseung held up his hands like he was surrendering. "Alright. I'll leave. Don't want to interrupt your very important script-reading time."
Sunghoon went back to typing.
But he didn't miss the way Heeseung lingered for half a second longer than necessary.
And how quiet it felt when he walked away.
⸻
The first episode dropped that weekend.
The views were insane.
By Monday, the crew was being praised for the concept, the editing, the camera work. And, of course, for Heeseung — who brought in the numbers just by breathing.
So, naturally, the boss called for a dinner.
Not just a few people.
The whole crew.
⸻
The restaurant was packed with noise — the good kind, mostly. Everyone in high spirits. Plates clinking, laughter spilling across the tables. A few of the idols joined too, chatting like they weren't the reason the cameras were constantly rolling.
Sunghoon sat a few seats away from Heeseung. Not close. But not far enough.
He could feel him in the room like static.
The boss raised a glass.
"To a damn good start!" he said. "Episode one crushed it. Great numbers. Great work. Everyone — drink!"
