"Daniel...Valentino." I say just above a whisper as I read his name. "Amber... let him in, please." I speak to my assistant.
Daniel walks in,his hair in a hair bun, and he wore a nice suit. I look him up and down,he looks completely different than when I last saw him."Daniel Valentino...correct." "Y-Yes ma'am." He said so anxiously. "Your file seems good... best so far...and I've seen 20."Thank you,ma'am." I burst out laughing,he looks at me confused. "Sorry,I just... we went to school together... Victoria Mutopa,aka Dork with the glasses as you called me." His face turned white as if he saw a ghost,realization fell upon him...hard. "I remember you said I could never be anything in life and now...oh how the table has turned and you need a job...from me,I just had to laugh,karma got you goo-", "you little bitch" he cut me off. "Look... you might wanna watch that mouth of yours, Daniel... you need a job...not me." He calmed down,knowing it's true,he can't afford to lose another opportunity for a job. "Look...I...we...",he took a deep breath in and out, "I was wrong...I was rude,stupid and arrogant and I am deeply ashamed of my past actions...trust me...and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me...or look past it,lets not make it personal...I need this job." "Oh Daniel, "I walk over to my window and shut the blinds. "How about you get on your knees and apologize?" I give a wide smirk. Daniel looked furious, but he put it aside and dropped to his knees, and apologized. "Good,"I said with a grin on my face. "Are you done now?" he said through his teeth. "Yeah... I was gonna give you the job,I just wanted to see you like that. " He looked annoyed. "Tomorrow,8 on the dot...dont be late Daniel"
He came here nice and early at half past 7 am. Lucky for him, I've been here since 6 am. He walked in with a bouquet of flowers with chocolates in it and came to my office, and knocked on my door. "Come in," he walked in nervously. "Morning Victoria," "Good morning, Daniel...and who's that for?" I eye the bouquet in his hand. "It's...for you actually...as a thank you and an apology for how stupid I was back in high school." he gave me a warm smile. "Thank you, Daniel...you didn't have to though",I took the bouquet and put it on my desk, and I got up and walked towards him and gave him a tight hug. I wrap my arms around his shoulders, and his hands immediately hold my waist as we hug. "You know bribing your boss is wrong... but just this once... I'll allow it." Throughout the day, he works with grace as if working in the marketing field was his calling. At the end of the work day,he asked me to join him for dinner as a proper thank you and apology since he felt the bouquet and chocolates just weren't enough to show how grateful he was and how much he wanted to turn a new leaf in life and show his not the same old rude guy he once was.He took me to a nice,decent restaurant. "You really didn't have to go all put Daniel," I say as he takes out a chair for me to sit on and push my chair in. "Nonsense...its a must...it would mean the world to me,so please let me do this."You know...im curious...you were so rich...how did you lose all your money?"I ask as I take a sip of my wine. "Well... my parents divorced, and my dad took all the money, leaving me and my mom with basically nothing, and with the bad grades I had... I struggled to get a decent job. What about you,how did you become Ms CEO?"Well...I worked mh butt off, and one thing led to another and bam... Ms. CEO." Our night was fun,finally turning a new page in our life...and something felt...different,good different though.
