The cottage was quiet, save for the ticking of a clock and the faint rustle of wind against the windows. Hermione sat on the edge of her bed, still wrapped in her cloak from the day's session, her fingers curled tightly around her wand.

It had been months since the war ended.
Weeks since the trials.
Days since she'd come home from the magical therapy center.
And now—now was the first moment she'd been alone with her scar.

She inhaled slowly, eyes fixed on the dusty mirror across the room. The glamour had been in place since that day in the Manor—since Bellatrix carved mudblood into her skin. A flick of her wand, and it had vanished. Hidden. Forgotten.

But she remembered it every time someone looked at her too softly.
Every time she looked in the mirror and didn't flinch.

Today, she was ready.

She whispered the counterspell.
"Finite incantatem."

A shimmer passed over her skin like a ripple in still water. At first, nothing seemed different—then, slowly, her reflection changed.

The scar was still there, but that wasn't what caught her breath.

Her eyes—
They were now a striking, rich brown with flecks of gold, almost mesmerizing in the light.
Her skin had taken on a radiant warmth, glowing with the deep olive undertones that suited the rest of her.
And her hair—oh, her hair. It was still thick and full, but now soft, sleek waves framed her face. Her curls had tamed themselves into something more controlled—luxurious even, cascading smoothly over her shoulders in waves of deep, dark brown.

The most striking change, however, was the subtle elegance of her features.
Her cheekbones were higher, her lips fuller, her jawline sharper, and her nose—slightly more defined than before, now almost regal.

She had been pretty before—but this... this was different. This was like looking at someone entirely new, someone otherworldly.

"What the hell..." she whispered, stepping closer to the mirror.

Magic swirled faintly in the air—subtle, old. Blood magic. She felt it pulling, tugging at her like a thread had been snapped in the distance.

And then—

CRACK.

A figure Apparated into the room, wild-eyed and gasping as if pulled from miles away.

Hermione's wand was instantly in her hand, heart hammering.
The woman who appeared was tall, poised, dressed in deep green velvet. Her hair was pinned elegantly, her presence striking—but her face...

It was like looking at a reflection grown older.

"No," Hermione breathed.

The woman stared at her in shock. Her lips parted.

"Astraea?"

Hermione's blood turned to ice. "What did you call me?"

Tears gathered in the woman's eyes. "Astraea Zabini. My daughter. I've found you."

The silence that followed was deafening.

Hermione didn't drop her wand. She didn't move.
But the world tilted slightly off its axis.

She'd survived a war.
She'd faced Death Eaters.
She'd rewritten laws.

But nothing—nothing—had prepared her for this.
