"You disgust me." I tell him, but he doesn't seem to take it seriously because he just smiles.

Voodoo, his black cat, jumps onto his lap and rubs her head against him. He scratches her behind the ears, and she starts purring loudly.

At least he's nice to his cat, I guess.

"Anyways, I need to feed. It's been a long day." Zevon says. 

Voodoo jumps off his lap as he gets to his feet, and I just watch Zevon as he leaves, wishing there was something I could do to stop him.

"He's a horrible person, Voodoo. And I thought cats were good judges of character." I say.

Voodoo just hisses at me.

While I can't feel animal emotions as strongly as I can human emotions, I can tell she's offended that I just called her a bad judge of character. She's also protective of Zevon.

"Oh, who am I kidding? He must've manipulated you, too." I add.

Friday evening, Zevon returns from school seeming somewhat defeated. 

I, on the other hand,  feel relieved. His plans must not have worked very well, and to me, that's a good thing.

"What happened?" I ask.

"Well... Khai told me to go away. I think he was a little more upset than I intended him to be. I was going to stay anyways, but then I realized being pushy might just make him suspicious, so I left."

"And then?" I ask.

"That's it. I just left."

"Wait, so you mean Khai could potentially still be trapped in there!?" I ask.

Every time when I think he can't surprise me any more.

"He could be. Most likely."

"Zevon, what is wrong with you!?" I want to know.

"It's okay, I won't leave him there. I'm giving him some time to cool off. Once he calms down a bit and remembers he's stuck, he'll realize I'll be his only chance at getting out and he'll be forced to let me be with him."

I brush past Zevon, unable to tolerate him any longer.

"Where are you going?" He asks.

"I'm getting Khai out of there. You're going too far." I say.

"Not if I can help it." Zevon says, taking a lunge at me.

Being able to feel his intentions helps me stay one step ahead. I dodge from underneath him, then open the door and leap into the air, where I shift into a bat and begin flying as fast as I can towards Blue Moon Secondary school, ignoring the slight burning sensation as I come into contact with the sun's rays.

"Killian, don't you dare!" Zevon calls after me before shifting into his own bat and chasing me.

We fly head to head for a bit, struggling for the lead, both trying to be the first one to arrive.

While Zevon is unfortunately the stronger vampire and has no issues with the sun, I tend to have the ability to outwit him.

It if for this reason and this reason only that I arrive at the school first.

However the only advantage Zevon has is that he knows where Khai is. I have to rely on my ability to sense blood.

Thankfully, that's wired into me and not hard to do.

When I find the room where I assume Khai has been trapped in, I find the doors open and the room empty.

Zevon arrives just seconds after me.

"You're too late." I inform him, as if he can't already see that for himself.
