Chapter 1 {Once upon a time..}

There once was an ordinary cat, living its fuzzy life in the warmth of a human's home. Sometimes, when the cat got bored, it ventured out into the backyard, squeezing through a hole in the fence to hunt mice in the forest to their liking. One time, the cat spotted a little mouse just outside the fence. They squeezed out the hole, looking around for the mouse before crouching down and eyeing it down. They were about to pounce when the little mouse stumbled away, as if it had.. some kinda disease. The cat didn't realize this, following the mouse with quick steps. Once the cat finally reached the mouse, the little wood mouse borrowed itself into the leaves of a nearby bush. -"ugh, are you kidding me? Do i really have to get it out of.. there?"- the cat thought, being disgusted by the thought of putting his paws between the leaves and getting them all wet and dirty. They did it tho, reaching in slowly and steadily to not scare the mouse. They did find something in the leaves, feeling it around with their paws before feeling something sucking him in by the paw, like a vacuum. Before they could react, he was already sucked in, finding themselves in a weird forest-like place. The leaves and grass were mint green, sparkling with raindrops as the sun hit them. It was beautiful. The cat noticed the same mouse being there, deciding to continue chasing it. The cat chased down the mouse through woods and fields, finally catching it by the shore. They grabbed its small, limp body with his jaws, looking up to see a group of weird looking cats with... Gills.? No, this can't be, fish have gills, not cats! They continued staring at the weird group, with them staring right back at him. One of them, a light blue furred cat with lots of accessories (close to the scene style) and pink axolotl-like gills walked over to the cat, looking up at them with a warm grin.
-"Hi! I'm Navy! What's your name?" -the weird cat meowed, leaning in the cat's face to take a closer look at their appearance. -"Navy!" -spoke another cat creature out of the crowd, this one having bright yellow fur and orange gills. -"Don't approach it! It could be dangerous!" -Navy looked at the yellow cat creature, raising an eyebrow, not getting what they meant. -"It?? This sure looks like a catoxolot to me! Just, y'know, without gills!" -spoke Navy, looking back at the newcomer with a curious glaze. -"So? What's your name?" -asked again Navy, waiting for a response. The cat looked at Navy in surprise, staying silent before getting their thoughts together and responding. -"I-im Raya.."
-"Raya? Cool! Nice ocean theming, too!" -meowed Navy, getting quite excited at this potential new friend they might obtain. The other catoxolots continued staring at Raya, some in awe, some in fear. Navy turned back to look at the group, shouting out to them. -"They're safe!" -spoke catoxolots let out a sigh of relief hearing this, while some continued to stay wary of the newcomer.
