Y/n POV:
"Lovely work," I hear Fyodor say, his right hand raised to reveal a strange symbol. Along with the Holy Sword, the symbol on his hand was glowing, which meant that they were connected somehow.
'Is this real...? How could this be...?'
"Gen... ichiro...?" Fukuzawa says in a low, soft voice, just as stunned and confused as I was.
"I'm afraid not. He is now the 'divine being.' With the Holy Cross Sword's power to combine ability and body, a bipartite fusion occurred between Fukuchi and the Holy Sword itself. Fukuchi-san was then puppeted by the Holy Sword's power, having his ability to increase the strength of a weapon he wields by one hundredfold forcibly activated. The original plan was for the Amenogozen sword to be part of the fusion as well but my dear Y/n-san prevented that from happening." Fyodor's eyes were glued to mine, my grip on the Amenogozen faltering slightly.
'What would've happened if I failed to take away the Amenogozen? How could this have possibly been any worse than it already is?!'
"He was born as a result of this. The incarnated singularity, the divine being, Holy Cross," Fyodor says pointedly about the divine being. "He now possesses truly God-like power. Fukuchi-san's personhood itself was sent beyond the singularity, never to return. Meaning the one thing this God will obey is the seal of the Holy Sword."
"This... was your true objective? You incited Gen'ichiro and caused the Decay of the Angels incident... You used the vampires... You used the United Nations... You even used the world war thirty-six years from now..." Fukuzawa says defeatedly.
"'World war thirty-six years from now'? You still believed that? That... was all a lie I thought up," Fyodor admits without a hint of remorse on his face.
"What did you just say?" Fukuzawa asks him. "But... Gen'ichiro himself received word of the war from the prediction through Amenogozen..."
"Meddling with Amenogozen's prophecy was a simple task. The blade can only span ten or so seconds each use. It would take countless jumps to transmit information thirty-six years to the past. Which means there would be no way to confirm whether the first message was real or not. All I did was scribble a convincing-enough fake into the wall. That's all. Having seen that, Fukuchi-san sent the 'prophecy' further into the past. There was no longer any way to distinguish the real from the fake," Fyodor explains with a calm and calculated smile.
"Gen'ichiro's fight... his wishes for peace... From the very start, it was all..." Fukuzawa starts, unable to continue.
"Precisely. A charade," Fyodor finishes for him.
I could practically feel the anger emanating from Fukuzawa from the knowledge that his best friend was lied to for so long, and for what? A joke? Was that all this was to Fyodor? A joke? A game?
"Everything... All of the pain and suffering that we had to endure... What was it all for? What could've possibly justified your actions?!" I shout, unable to stay silent anymore.
Fyodor simply smiles at me, that same menacing smile that shows how little he cares about what others think and say. "Why? I did it to save humanity, of course. To purify them of all sins."
3rd-person POV:
Fukuzawa's thoughts were quite clear to Y/n, to anyone really. 'He can't get away with this. He can't. He can't. He can't. He can't.' This line was playing in his head on repeat, each following line louder and angrier than the last. 'He'll burn for this!'
In a split moment, Fukuzawa picks himself off the ground and lunges for Fyodor and the divine being, all while Y/n grabs Aya and pulls her away from the danger.
