"R-ROMEO AND J-JULIET...?!" You gasped out in very evident shock. You would get the main role no matter what, you promised yourself, but who would play Romeo? That was your real issue.

You almost forgot about the demon lord next to you until he sighed out."Romeo and Juliet? How cute. But...whoever wants to play Juliet will have to work really hard. Because I won't share the stage with someone half-baked." He said with a sweet melodic voice which did not match the carefully constructed insult which left his mouth.

"Why do you think you would play Romeo, huh? Do you not realise that you must undergo an audition? Believe me, we have many talented people here. You may be...cute or whatever but that doesn't win you roles. Talent and skills does." You turned to look at him and had the opportunity to observe him grow more and more agitated even though the smile on his face kept its place there. You were so focused on seeing his reaction that you even noticed the way he took in a big breath in attempts to calm down.

"Oh, believe me, darling. I have both the appearance and skills. Which is already more than what you have. It seems." Asmo replied softly almost like if scolding a child.

You were ready to rip the smile off his face if it was not for Astaroth's intervention. (Again.)

"Hey, guys. As always, I am going to give you the monologues which you must have prepared for the audience. Y/N, you explain the process to Asmo. You should know it well by know, right? I will go and talk to the other newbies." He put a stack of papers in yours hands before dashing away.

You started flipping through the pages before the highlighted text was seen by yours eyes. Asmo leaned closer to you to look as well. "So, which monologue must I do for the Romeo role? Hm?" He asked you, his eyes fixated on his nails rather than on you.

"What, you are gonna go for a lead?" You asked in disbelief.

"Yeah?" He, on the other hand, did not even look to be offended by your question. Almost as if the very notion of him not getting the lead was absolutely absurdity.

"Pff, you never run out of confidence, huh?" You mocked him before taking out the page with Romeo's monologue and giving it to the demon.

He took it and you watched as his eyes scanned the page. "I am too bold, 'tis not to me she speaks: two of the fairest stars in all the heaven,
having some business, do entreat her eyes..." He read aloud and while you were not a big fan of his character, you could not deny how sweet his voice sounded. He did not read it as dramatically as you thought he would. He read it...just right.

Was he naturally talented?

And why did that make your heart fill with ugly emotions?

You work hard. So hard. And yet, he gets it on the first try? What the hell?

"Hmm, this sounds like one of the poems a fan wrote for me once...makes me wonder, who would even manage to be the perfect Juliet for me?" And the dream was over when you got reminded about his overflowing ego.

"Again, you may not get the role. That's okay, though. Don't be too discouraged but newbies usually don't get main leads." You answered him while trying to say it as condescendingly as possible.

"Hm? Is that so?"

And for the first time, he looked at you completely.

You never noticed how intense his eye-contact can be when you have all of his attention.

His soft hands reached your chin and they gently lifted up your chin. For some reason, you let it happen. "Tell me, little nebula. Do you want a big part in this play. Or a small one? Do you want to be there in the first place? Why?" His eyes shined unnaturally bright as he leaned down to your height to have a better look at your face and more specifically the windows to your soul.

"I..." And for some reason you felt compelled to answered. You did not want to but you felt the need to. Like a fish on the hook. "I want to...play as Juliet. I want a big role. I want to prove myself." You answered, almost as if hypnotised."

Asmo listened completely without taking his eyes off you. He nodded and made you feel heard. "You do, don't you?" His hand reached the top of your head and gently patted you. Then he smiled.

"If you meant this, then you are going to have to work harder. I have no interest in dying stars." He said before looking away and walking to a different place.

The second his eyes left yours, you managed to breathe, again. The feeling of having your oxygen pulled out of yours lungs was gone and left you standing there in shock.

You were left there, looking in shock at the floor as your hand reached your chest to catch your breath.

What the hell happened? What was that?!
