**Chapter 1: The Enigmatic Player 455**
The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead as you adjusted the stiff green tracksuit hanging from your frame. The dormitory was packed with players, all murmuring in hushed tones, eyes filled with fear and uncertainty. But your focus wasn’t on them.
Your focus was on him.
Leaning against a bunk bed in the far corner, arms crossed, and eyes distant, was Player 455—Thanos.
You didn’t know much about him, only that the second he walked into the room, the atmosphere *shifted*. He wasn’t like the other players, who panicked or schemed. No, Thanos had this *calm, untouchable aura*—as if he already knew how the game would end, and he wasn’t scared of it. His purple hair glowed under the dim lights, and the sharp angles of his face made him look almost unreal.
You hadn’t even spoken to him yet, and still, he had taken up way too much space in your brain.
A voice interrupted your thoughts.
"Players, prepare for the first game."
Your stomach twisted. As everyone filed toward the giant steel doors, you felt the tension in the air grow heavy. But as you hesitated, a deep, smooth voice slid into your ears like silk.
"Nervous?"
Your breath caught.
You turned your head slowly—too slowly—and found Thanos standing right beside you. When did he even move? His gaze, cool and unreadable, flickered to yours, and for a second, you forgot how to function.
"I—uh—no, I mean, yes? Kind of?" you stammered, wanting to vanish immediately.
He huffed a soft chuckle, barely noticeable.
"Don’t overthink it," he said simply. "You just have to move when it’s safe. And stop when it’s not."
You blinked. Well, duh. But coming from him, even the most obvious advice sounded... poetic? Mesmerizing? Ugh. This was ridiculous.
Then, just before the doors opened, Thanos leaned in slightly, his voice low enough that only you could hear.
"Stick close to me."
Your heart? Slamming against your ribs.
Your legs? Absolutely untrustworthy.
And then—before you could respond—the game began.
