ACT FOUR
INT. JAIL CELL - STORYBROOKE - MORNING
ON Emma. Asleep. Her eyes flutter open to WHISTLING. Where IS she? Groggy, she sits up and the room slowly comes into FOCUS. She's in a JAIL CELL She turns to the whistling. It comes from the neighboring cell and a MAN in a SCHOOL JANITOR'S outfit. His face bruised. His NAME PATCH reads LEROY. But we recognize him as GRUMPY. He stops whistling.
LEROY
What're you looking at, sister?
Emma sits up, shakes off the fog. GROANS.
MARCO (O.S.)
Don't mind him, he's always ornery. Let me guess, Leroy. Sleeping off another bar brawl?
Emma looks over to see MARCO FIXING a DESK. This HANDYMAN is GEPPETTO, still with that Italian accent.
LEROY
Don't push me, Marco. You try cleanin' up kids' puke all day... see how your temper is.
MARCO
Leroy, manners, we have a guest.
(to Emma)
So you're Henry's mother?
EMMA
No, I'm -- uh, how'd you know that?
MARCO
It's a small town. He's a wonderful boy. How lovely for him to have you back in his life.
And this makes Emma QUITE UNCOMFORTABLE.
EMMA
Actually... I was just dropping him off.
LEROY
Don't blame ya. They're all brats. Who needs em!
39.
MARCO
Well, I'd give anything for one. My wife and I -- we tried for many years. But it wasn't meant to be. And now that she's gone...
LEROY
Well cry me a river.
GRAHAM (O.S.)
Leroy? If I'm gonna let you out, you need to behave.
Graham enters, unlocks Leroy's cell.
GRAHAM
Now put on a smile, get back to the school, and stay out of trouble.
As Leroy heads out, GRUMBLING, Graham turns to Marco.
GRAHAM
So Marco, what's the verdict? Can you fix it?
MARCO
I can do it.
GRAHAM
Never doubted you for a moment.
Now he walks over to Emma's cell. She looks around, EXASPERATED by her surroundings.
EMMA
Seriously?
GRAHAM
(smiles mischievous)
08. MAYBE YOU WEIGHED A BIT LESS THAN YOU DIDN'T WANT TO TELL ME.
EMMA
I wasn't drunk. There was a wolf standing in the middle of the road.
GRAHAM
A wolf? Was he with his leprechaun trainer?
40.
Before Emma can plead her case, Regina storms in, PANICKED --
REGINA
Graham... Henry's run away again. We have to--
REGINA (cont'd)
(notices Emma)
What is she doing here?
Regina strides over. FURIOUS. She speaks through the BARS.
REGINA
Do you know where he was?
EMMA
Lady, I haven't seen him since I dropped him off to you. And I got a pretty good alibi.
REGINA
Well, he wasn't in his room this morning.
EMMA
Have you tried any of his friends?
