The shock

The grand wedding hall shimmered with golden lights. Laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses filled the air, but Anubhav's world stood still.

At the center of the decorated stage, surrounded by flowers and family, stood Haseena.

Dressed in an elegant lehenga, adorned with jewels-as a bride.

His breath caught in his throat. His hands clenched at his sides.

She was getting married.

To someone else.

His feet felt like lead, but he forced himself forward. Forced a smile that didn't reach his eyes.

When he finally reached her, she turned. And their eyes met.

For a moment, time rewound. He saw the girl he had once loved, the girl he had once left-for her own good.

But the woman standing before him now... she wasn't the same.

She was thinner, her face paler. Her once fiery eyes were dulled, her lips curved in a forced smile.

Yet, she looked at him as if he were a stranger.

"Vivah ki bahut bahut Badhai ho Miss Malik " His voice was steady, but his soul trembled.

She blinked, surprised. Aap ....yaha...?"

He let out a quiet chuckle, trying to mask the ache in his chest. "Dekha toh vichar aaya badhia de de ......"

Her lips parted slightly, as if she wanted to say something, but then-she only nodded.

No teasing. No sarcasm. No fire.

Just silence.

And that silence burned him more than her words ever could.

Anubhav forced himself to walk away before his own heart betrayed him.

But just as he turned-he saw something that shattered him.

The groom walked past, stopping beside another woman.

The bride.

Not Haseena.

His mind reeled. She wasn't getting married? Then... why did she look like she had already lost everything?

The lost Smile

As the wedding continued, Anubhav observed her from afar. Something was wrong.

Haseena wasn't the same woman who once fought alongside him, who laughed fearlessly, who argued with him over every little thing.

Now, she sat quietly in a corner, barely touching her food, her hands fidgeting with the end of her dupatta.

She wasn't avoiding him.

She was avoiding everyone.

His heart clenched.

Had he done this to her? Had leaving her broken her this much?

That night, as guests danced and celebrated, he stepped outside to clear his mind.

And then-he saw her.

Haseena stood near a pillar, taking out a small bottle of pills.

She poured several into her palm.

His blood ran cold.
Itni saari medicines?

She swallowed them in one go, leaning against the wall as if exhausted.

Anubhav's feet moved before he could think.
