(July 22nd, 11:30 PM) I searched through paperwork as my coworker Sarah rushed to me as her voice was breathless. "Jess, have you checked your phone recently? Your sister, Angela, was found dead in a recent car crash." I reply, "What?" with widened eyes. My phone was turned off, so I wasn't getting any messages. I quickly turned on my phone as my hands shaken. I had over 20 missed calls and more than 99+ unread messages. As I scrolled through them, I noticed I got sent an image from an unsaved number. It was a photo of my sister, with a large glass puncture coming out of her chest from the broken car window. My brows furrowed in confusion because I got a message from someone who saw the crash. As they texted me, the doctors at the scene appearently labeled the injury as a pneumothorax, which was a puncture in the lung that causes it to collapse, yet in the photo it looks like it's nowhere near the lungs. My hands became sweaty as I thought of who this person could be and if that other person was even at the scene. I received a voicenote from a close friend I know, as they said, "I'm so sorry for what happened, but don't you think this is a little off? I mean, you told me your sister hates driving, which means she must have taken an Uber before the crash happened. Also, the surgeons said the puncture of glass was not that serious, so maybe something else caused the death because there is no way she just died like that from some glass. You should investigate the scene just in case, but I might just be paranoid." I texted back, "You might be right. I'm so lost; I mean, everyone's telling me the injury in a different way. I'll report back to you after investigating." I said before closing my phone and heading to the scene. I put on some gloves as I look closely at everything in the Uber. There was a half-dranken soda as I sniffed it before I gagged. "What is this?" I said while plugging my nose. My eyes widen in realization as it smells exactly like ethanol, which is a type of alcohol. It was one of the rare allergies my sister had that could give her an anaphylactic reaction, which is life-threatening. I put the bottle in the box of evidence as I headed home since it was getting late. I headed to bed as my mind raced with possibilities. The next day I woke up as I opened my water to drink some since I was parched. My phone started buzzing as I picked it up as I heard, "Hey, can you pick me up? If not, I'll take an Uber," in my sister's voice. I nearly spit out my water. I reply, "Sis? Uhm, im sorry, this may be a weird thing to ask, but what's today's date?" My sister replied, "July 22nd obviously." I replied in a slight panic, "Ill call back in a sec." My face struck with realization. As I hang up the phone before checking the time. It was 9:25 pm. I might have a way to stop my sister's death.
