The Six Legends: The Prophecy of FateDark Realm – The Royal Court
The grand hall of obsidian and silver stretched endlessly beneath a ceiling adorned with celestial constellations, shifting and flickering like living embers. The towering columns, carved with the tales of past rulers, loomed over the chamber like silent sentinels, their watchful eyes frozen in the flow of time. A heavy fog rolled through the narrow stained-glass windows, painting eerie shadows upon the polished black marble floor.
At the throne's center, Lord Zed, ruler of the Dark Realm, sat with his fingers drumming idly on the armrest of his seat. His presence alone commanded the air—formidable, unreadable, like an impending storm lurking behind serene skies. His long dark robes cascaded around him, embroidered with silver threads that shimmered like the threads of fate itself.
Kneeling at the foot of the throne was the Chief Eunuch, his head bowed low, his breathing shallow as if burdened by the weight of words he had yet to speak. A sense of unease lingered between them, thick and suffocating.
Lord Zed: (Calm yet commanding) "How is Cassano progressing with his training?"
The Chief Eunuch swallowed hard, his hands tightening into fists within the sleeves of his ceremonial robes. He hesitated, as though grappling with whether he should speak the truth.
Chief Eunuch: (Voice laced with hesitation) "My Lord, I believe you need to see something."
Lord Zed's sharp crimson eyes flickered with impatience. He leaned forward, resting his chin upon his knuckles.
Lord Zed: "What is it?"
Chief Eunuch: (Lowering his voice) "Have you read Cassano's celestial tablet?"
At the mention of the celestial tablet, the chamber's torches flickered, casting elongated shadows that seemed to dance unnaturally along the stone walls. The air itself grew colder, as if unseen forces were leaning in to listen.
Lord Zed: (Tone edged with irritation) "Can you get to the point?!"
The Chief Eunuch exhaled shakily, then, with reverence, pulled from his robes an ancient stone tablet. The moment it was exposed, an ethereal blue glow radiated from its surface. Strange symbols, written in the forgotten language of the Celestials, pulsated like a heartbeat, whispering their secrets into the void.
The flickering light from the torches cast eerie reflections upon the tablet's surface, making it seem as though the carvings were shifting before Lord Zed's very eyes.
