Chapter Three: The Asylum's Secret
The heavy iron doors groaned as Everly pushed them open, the scent of decay and dust filling her lungs. The asylum loomed around them, its cracked walls and broken windows whispering stories of the past. The spirits here weren't just lingering—they were watching, waiting.
Colby stayed close, his flashlight cutting through the darkness. "Alright, Ev. Where do we start?"
Everly closed her eyes for a moment, feeling the shift in energy around her. A shiver ran down her spine as whispers curled through the air—soft, pleading voices overlapping in a desperate murmur.
"They're trapped," she whispered.
Celina held out her spirit box, turning it on. Static crackled before a voice pushed through.
"Help... me..."
Everyone froze.
Everly's fingers tightened around her pendant. "I will," she said softly, the promise echoing into the void.
The temperature in the room dropped instantly. The spirits had heard her. And now, the real investigation was about to begin.
Chapter Four: Shadows of the Past
They moved deeper into the asylum, guided by Everly's instincts. Every step seemed to pull them further into the building's dark history.
"This place was shut down after reports of abuse, right?" Kris asked, scanning the walls with her flashlight. "Patients kept disappearing?"
Everly nodded. "They weren't just disappearing. They were being experimented on."
Colby frowned. "How do you know that?"
Everly turned toward him, her expression distant, as if she were seeing something they couldn't. "Because they're showing me."
The flickering light overhead buzzed loudly before going out completely. The hallway was plunged into darkness.
And then—
A loud bang echoed down the corridor.
Everly barely had time to react before a shadow darted across the far end of the hallway, moving impossibly fast.
Celina sucked in a breath. "Oh... hell no."
Sam pointed the camera in the direction of the movement. "Did you see that?"
Everly's heartbeat quickened. Whatever was here wasn't just a lost spirit. It was something darker.
Something that didn't want them there.
And it wasn't going to let them leave without a fight.
