Broken Promises (Kaname x Reader)

An Opportunity

That night one of his minions came in and gave me some blood to heal my wound faster.... I expected him to give me a glass or something, like they've always done after I get a beating or something from Rido. Instead however, he pulled out a small knife and dragged it across his wrist slowly. Letting the blood pool over and drip to the floor. 

I started wide eyed at him, he held his wrist towards me but he remained far enough that it was out of my reach. I felt with slight fear the hunger growing withing me to drink this man dry or very close to, I haven't had fresh blood before and the thought was driving my brain wild. I needed to feed. I could smell it, I could see it, but I couldn't reach it. That's when I heard a sound like shattering glass, and blacked out.

Groaning, I held my head with my left hand and sat up. My head pounded against my skull like a hammer and made it hard to focus. Rubbing my face with both hands, I tried to will the headache to go away or at least let me focus. My eyes were blurry, and I held my head again trying to remember what could've caused it. Then I realized something that made my blood felt like liquid ice running through my veins. I can't hold my head, The chains around my wrists won't let me. I looked up barely breathing and saw my hands weren't chained to the wall, I looked behind me and saw shiny....... things scatted around where I used to lay. I can only imagine they were the chains. 

That's when I realized I was sitting on something warm.

I looked down and felt horror at the sight.

A man laid underneath me, barely breathing, as i straddled his chest. His neck covered in blood on one side, and I realized what had happened. I nearly drank him dry.

He looked up at me as I covered my mouth with my blood stained hands, he sent me a warm smile and with a lot of difficulty raised his hand to give me something. It was a set of keys that I recognized as the ones to open the doors in this place, I gently took them in one hand and was about to get up when he stopped me.

"Don't be..... afraid.... You're a... Pureblood.... Find.... You're brother and... sister...." he coughed up some blood before continuing.

"My mistress... I'm sorry I couldn't... help you sooner.... Run.... Run as fast as you can..... and don't... let him catch you... Go to.... Cross academy.... The headmaster will...Take you in..." and with that his eyes faded and his hand fell from my wrist, but his smile remained. I gripped the keys tightly to my chest and got up, ignoring the blood covering my body. I hesitantly grabbed the doorknob ad opened the door, but before I left I took one last glance at the room. 

This room was my nightmares as a kid, and all I've known since I was kidnapped by Rido when I was 4. What is beyond this room? What's outside? I'd be lying if I said I was worried or scared, but I won't wait here for Rido to return. I needed to run, the scent of blood was heavy in this room and it drifted thickly out the door. If i didn't hurry, the Vampire followers of Rido will come running. I looked towards the man that laid in a bloody heap on the ground.

"Thank you" I whispered into the empty space, turning around I close the door behind me and take off running. Leaving bloody Footprints through every hall I ran through. Some would think I'm crazy, and maybe I am, but I needed to spread the smell of blood so they can't pinpoint it. How am I getting out of here? I need to wash this blood off ASAP, it's basically a tracking device.

I stopped in my tracks as sunlight hit my face in a warm glow, I followed it's source and found a glass window. Looking out I saw that the castle/mansion connected to a bridge which led to land, we were isolated and surrounded by water. Perfect.

Screams echoed through the mansion bouncing off the stone walls, they've found out I'm not in the room. Without thinking anymore about it I take a couple steps back and run fill force into the glass, breaking it to pieces and plunging into the surging waters below.
