Shoku released a deep sigh, her cheek coming to rest against Kendra's barrette. "I was just looking at Donnie's social media," she said, her voice laced with frustration. "He's already moved on and got a new boyfriend." With a huff, she closed the app and tossed her phone onto her lap. Kendra raised an eyebrow, pointing out the obvious. "Shoku, you're already dating someone else," she said, gesturing to herself before taking another sip of her drink. Shoku's response was immediate and defensive. "Yeah, but that's different!" She let out a long, exasperated sigh before rearranging their positions, resting her head on Kendra's shoulder instead.
Kendra's eyes sparkled with amusement as she leaned back, resting her head against Shoku's. She wrapped her arm around Shoku's shoulders, pulling her close as she took another sip of her drink. The alcohol was starting to take its toll, but Kendra was determined to keep the conversation going. "How so? I wanna hear you explain it," she said, her voice slightly slurred. Shoku's response was immediate and petulant. "Because Donnie's stupid." She huffed, picking up her phone again. This time, she opened the camera app and lifted it up, prompting Kendra to scoot in closer to fit within the frame.
Kendra let out a low, throaty chuckle, scooting closer to Shoku to fit within the camera frame. A sly smirk spread across her lips. "Wow, someone's petty," she teased, raising an eyebrow. "Jealous?" Shoku's face lit up with a bright smile as she snapped the photo. Her thumbs flew across the screen as she uploaded the picture to her social media. "Not jealous," she said, her voice firm, but her tone betraying a hint of defensiveness. "I just want to show him that I'm happier with my amazing girlfriend than I was with him." Her eyes gleamed with a mixture of triumph and vulnerability as she hit the post button. The air was thick with unspoken understanding – they both knew that Shoku's words weren't entirely genuine.
Kendra's eyes sparkled with amusement as she gazed at Shoku, her sarcasm dripping from every word. "Oh, sure, that's exactly why you're stalking his socials and bringing him up in every conversation. You're just looking for fodder to trash-talk him." She took another sip of her drink, her gaze never leaving Shoku's face. Shoku's pettiness was adorable, and Kendra was happy to indulge her, even if it meant poking fun at her a bit. Shoku snorted, rolling her eyes dramatically as she curled up closer to Kendra, her legs tucked under her. "Exactly," she huffed, her voice laced with mock indignation. "I'm just gathering ammo for our next conversation about him.”
Kendra's chuckle was low and husky, her eyes crinkling at the corners as she smiled. She wrapped her arm around Shoku's shoulders, pulling her close in a gentle squeeze. "How very mature of you, Shoku," she teased, her voice laced with amusement. Her hand on Shoku's thigh squeezed lightly, a gentle caress. Shoku melted into her touch, coiling her body around Kendra's as she buried her snout in the crook of her neck. As the warmth of the moment washed over her, Kendra's thoughts began to blur, the edges growing fuzzy. But beneath the haze of alcohol, the tension in her body remained, a constant reminder of the stresses she'd been trying to escape. She bit her lip, reaching for her drink only to find it empty, the realization piercing through her foggy thoughts like a tiny spark of disappointment.
Kendra enveloped Shoku in a warm embrace, her arms wrapping tightly around her girlfriend's waist. She gently stroked Shoku's hair, the tender gesture a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing inside her. As comforting as the affection was, it also felt suffocating, weighed down by the burden of Shoku's problems. Kendra's own issues, temporarily numbed by the alcohol, began to resurface, their sharp edges cutting through her foggy thoughts. Her craving for another drink intensified, becoming an all-consuming need. With a sudden burst of urgency, Kendra grasped the back of Shoku's head, pulling her into a passionate, all-consuming kiss. Just as abruptly, she broke away and stumbled to her feet. "Stay right there," she instructed Shoku, her voice husky and slurred.
