Second Chance Mate (A short story)

Ch 1

Liliana(aka Lily) has had a rough life.

Lily's mother died in childbirth and her father turned cold.
He had barely paid any attention to Lily growing up. An elderly omega named Donna helped raise her though. Lily calls her Nona as she is like a grandmother to her. 

Even though Lily was born the Alpha's daughter, when she didn't shift on her 15th birthday like a normal werewolf she was demoted to omega and disowned by her father.
Being unable to shift like other wolves, Lilly was abused daily by the other pack members.

One drunken night when her father was beating her for accidentally breaking a plate, (Even though he was the one who bumped into her causing her to drop it), he admitted that he hates how much Lily reminds him of her mother.
Lily looks like a perfect mix of both of her parents.
She has her mother's big brown eyes and her smile.
Lily's skin is a bit lighter than her mother's, and her hair is medium-ish brown and naturally wavy, unlike her mother's very curly, chocolate-brown hair.

When Lily was 16 she met her mate and thought that she would finally be happy.
He was Ben, the beta's son though, and was one of her main tormentors.

The night they found out they were mates he refused to reject Lily but instead proceeded to beat the shit out of her and rape her.

Afterward, Nona found her and attended to her wounds.

Lily was starting to feel better when, one night Ben snuck into her room marked her, and forced her to complete the mating bond. He left her room immediately after and without saying a word.

The next night a searing pain shot through her body.
Nona heard her cries and came running.
She knew exactly what was happening though and could do nothing but comfort the poor girl.

Once the pain subsided Nona told Lily what had happened.

Ben slept with another shewolf.

Every night Lily would feel this pain and every night she cried herself to sleep.
She got into drugs and alcohol and was headed down a dark hole.

How did he not care about her or even cause her pain?

Eventually, the pain got easier to deal with. Lily was still addicted to drugs and alcohol but was doing okay.
At least that is what she would tell Nona when she would ask.

When Lily was 18 years old there was a rogue attack.
They lost many pack members that day including Ben.
Even though he was a horrible mate, Lily still felt pain with his loss.

Her father nearly died too but is in a coma.
He was shot in the head with a silver bullet. Most wolves would have died instantly. Somehow he made it through but barely.

Left without an alpha the pack was forced to call other packs for help.

No one wanted to help though.

Their pack was known for being stuck-up and rude toward other packs. So no one wanted to help.

Defenseless they were attacked by rogues again and lost even more pack members over the years.

Lily now 22 years old, is the new Alpha.

You see, a few months ago her father passed away and the title of alpha automatically went to Lily. However, she had work to do before the pack would allow her to officially take the title.

So, she stopped drinking and doing drugs and started training.
The withdrawal symptoms were horrendous but she pulled through. 

Who knew that with proper dieting and exercise and not doing drugs or drinking, she could become one of the strongest she-wolves in the pack? Even without her wolf.

One day Lily was sparring with one of her fellow pack members when pain shot through her body.
She was shifting.
She screamed in pain until she was finally in wolf form.

Lily was a large white wolf, her Alpha genes strong.

Everyone bowed to her and bared their necks submitting to Lily and recognizing her as Alpha.

After Lily became Alpha things changed.
The rogue attacks have stopped but Lily has a feeling that her pack will be attacked again and she knows they won't recover from it. They only have 100 pack members left. They used to have 500 members.

Lily was right and a few months later they caught wind of a large group of rogues planning to destroy her pack.
As their last resort, Lily called the Alpha King for help.

He agreed to come and bring his best warriors to help eliminate the rogues.

Word spread of the Alpha King's visit and the pack anxiously prepared for his arrival.

Lily's wolf was anxious (or was it excited) about his arrival too and wouldn't tell Lily why.

Lily blocked her out and finished preparing for the king's arrival.
