Tom and Jake are walking through the woods holding firewood for the fire talking about Miriam and how she's a bit grumpy.
Jake: "I want to talk to her but she scares me a little."
Tom: "Why would you want to talk to her?"
Jake: "I don't know, she reminds me a little of my grandmother. How she walks, how she talks I miss her and my sister."
Tom: "Oh."
Jake: "She's been sick for months and she can't have visitors. Yeah she's often cranky she was the only one who really understood me. My sister as well she's one of the best people I actually really know."
Tom looks at Jake with sympathetic and somewhat understanding eyes
Tom: "Jake I don't know what to say but if you need to talk to someone I'm always here."

Season 1 episode 3

It was the maze challenge Jake rejected his fear he was sitting alone until Tom comes up and sits next to him.
Tom: "Are you okay?"
Jake: "Not really I feel bad for letting the team down."
Tom: "Don't worry, we'll catch up in the other challenges."
Jake: "I wish I could do it, but it's just hits too close to home."
Tom: "May I ask why?"
Jake: "I lost my grandfather when I was a kid and I always went with my mom or with my sister to visit him and leave flowers. That place caused me a lot of anxiety, now my grandmother is sick and I know it's only a matter of time before you know."
Tom: "I'm sorry Jake, that must be hard."
Jake: "It's fine I'd rather not think about it."
A timer went off signaling that it was time for them to go to the next challenge.

Season 1 episode 4

Tom and Jake are on a canoe rowing to the challenge area.
Jake: "I hope we win this challenge! I'm already tired of only eating fish and I really want to call my sister haha."
Tom: "I know. What are you craving?"
Jake: "Chinese takeout, I always ordered that at home."
Tom: "Oh, I love Chinese food. There's a restaurant I live near that will knock your socks off. We should go when this is over."
Jake: "Sure! Hey your eyes they're pretty, I've never noticed since you always got that hood on."
Tom: "Oh, um thanks sorry, I don't know how to react when I get a compliment."
Jake: "Don't sweat it."

Season 1 episode 5

The teal team were at the cabin they won last challenge for a night with Miriam and Jake being the only ones left to make a phone call.
Jake: "Well Miriam, we are the last two, do you want to go first?"
Miriam: "I have no one to call."
Jake: "Why?
Miriam: "Quit being a nosy brat."
Jake: "Fine I'll go."
He goes down the steps of the cabin going to the phone holding it to his ear and putting down his sister's number. The phone rings, someone picks up, Jake smiles knowing it's his sister.
Jake: "Hey Rachel."
Rachel: "Hey Jake"
Jake looks confused as he hears his sister's voice sounding upset because his sister usually is cheerful every time when they talk.
Jake: "What's up? Is everything alright?"
Rachel: "No I'm sorry Jake, it's too late."
Jake puts a hand on his head and realizes what his sister means.
Jake: "Oh no."
Rachel: "A couple of days ago Grandma passed away."
Jake: "Are you serious?"
Rachel: "Mom and Shawn told me not to tell you until you came back but I had to."
Jake: "Rachel please tell me you're lying."
Rachel: "She was conscious for a few hours before she got worse, she wrote us both letters I already read mine, I'll give you yours when you get back. I'm sorry."
Jake starts crying while kneeling on the ground with a hand over his eyes and Tom comes over putting a hand on his shoulder.
Tom: "Jake I'm so sorry."
Jake hugs Tom while crying being upset over the death of one of the people who understood him most, Miriam looks at him with sad and understanding eyes.

Jake was shown to be sad with both of his hands on his face looking down at the table he was sitting at with Miriam next to him.
Miriam: "Jake, are you okay?"
Jake: "Since when do you care? You're always telling me to shut up and leave."
Miriam: "I couldn't help but hear the call with your sister."
Jake: "You don't need to pity us."
Miriam: "I know it's hard but remember that you will always be in your and your sister's hearts and in both of your memories. We can always honor our loved ones by keeping their legacy alive by lovingly remembering them."
Jake: "Uh, I didn't expect those words from you."
Miriam: "I'm saying this because I've been there before."
Jake looks shocked at what Miriam said.

The talk between the two

Jake was looking at Miriam with a small shocking and understanding look.
Jake: "What do you mean you've been there?"
Miriam: "I haven't told anyone about this."
Jake: "You can talk to me."
Miriam: "A couple of years ago, on my husband's birthday I wanted to surprise him with a cheesecake his favorite with little strawberries on top. I'm the only one who made it the way he likes, so I told my son to take him to the mall, maybe buy his dad a gift while I baked but when I had the dessert ready I called them to come back, but they never did."
Jake: "Oh."
Miriam: "Apparently a drunk driver hit their car, a head collision no survivors, it took me to a dark place for a long time those two were all I had."
Jake: "I'm so sorry Miriam."
Miriam: "It's never easy to lose someone you love I heard what happened to your grandmother, it all came flooding back."
Miriam starts crying Jake gives her a hug comforting her with small tears in his eyes over what happened to her.
Miriam: "It took me a long time to finally move out of that dark place to suppress the anguish and loneliness I felt, I try to be tough Jake but it's really hard."
Miriam starts crying again and Jake pulls her a bit closer to comfort her a bit more.

After the pizza is cooked

Miriam and Jake open the oven to see if the pizza is ready and see it looks okay.
Miriam: "Not half bad, you've done this before."
Jake: "Thank you, me and my sister used to cook with my grandmother a lot."

Season 1 episode 6

At the teal team campsite Jake is looking at Tom as he walks away with some type of loving look with Miriam standing right next to him with a small smirk.
Miriam: "Do you like him?"
Jake: "What?"
Miriam: "Tom, do you like him?"
Jake: "Eh no, why do you say that?"
Miriam: "You always smile while you're talking to him."
Jake: "It's just I like him but not in that way. I'm not ready to be in a relationship."
Miriam: "Why?"
Jake: "Recently I was in a somewhat toxic relationship and things didn't end well."
Miriam: "What'd he do?"
Jake: "He cheated on me and I couldn't get over it and my sister and her girlfriend were the only ones there for me."
Miriam: "Well, you're young I'm like me you still have a lot of time ahead of you."
Jake smiles at her with an understanding look knowing what she meant.

Season 1 episode 9

At night during the zombie VR game with Miriam, Jake, and Tom but Miriam was not looking too good because of an arrow that was in her chest.
Jake: "Miriam, stay with me!"
Miriam: "Jake I don't have much time left."
Tom: "You have to hold on, we can go find you help."
Miriam: "Let's not kid ourselves hon."
Jake: "Don't leave me, you haven't met my sister yet, you have to meet her."
Miriam: "Coming to this camp was worth it I didn't think my last days would end like this, but I'm happy they were with you, you are the grandchildren I never had and I would have loved to meet your sister Jake, she sounds like such a nice girl."
Miriam 'passed away' after saying what she needed to say.
Jake: "Not again."
He cries with Tom looking at him with sympathetic and sad eyes

One month in VR

At the campsite where Tom and Jake are staying, they're sitting by the campfire they have with Jake looking conflicted.
Jake: "I'm tired Tom."
Tom: "Of what?"
Jake: "Every day it's the same go out and find supplies, run away from those creatures and it will never be over again."
Tom: "What other choice do we have? Someone will come to our rescue."
Jake: "I don't know. I don't think this will ever end, my sister is out there in this world, I'm so worried about her."
Tom: "Hey at least we have each other. I'm hoping that your sister is okay, the way you talk about her she sounds like such a strong person. I'm sure she's fighting tooth and nail to find you."
Tom and Jake hug with both of them smiling as big as possible hoping to get out the so-called apocalypse.

Season 1 episode 11 at the motel
******
Jake is in his motel room crying after his elimination then he hears a knock on his door, he gets up to see who it is, when he opens the door he sees that it's Ashley holding a letter.
Ashley: "The hotel staff told me to give you this, they said it was from your sister."
Ashley hands Jake the letter with an understanding look on her face knowing what happened, Jake takes the letter with a sad look on his face.
Jake: "Thanks, just so you know I'm not coming down for dinner."
Ashley: "How about I bring you some of the dinner after everyone's done?"
Jake: "Sure, that sounds nice, thanks."
Ashley nods to him with a small smile and walks away. Jake closes the door putting his back on it he looks at the letter and then goes to the bed sitting on the bottom part and opens the letter to see what his sister wrote to him.
Dear Jake
I'm so sorry that you didn't get the chance to win the game, I want you to know that I am still there for you no matter the cost. Mom and Dad saw the show and realized that you are gay and they found out about me and Michelle right afterwards they're pretty mad so you better head straight home after the finale but that's only part of the things I'm going to say on this piece of paper. Jake I was so happy you found someone but ended up losing him because of that stupid redhead Ellie you deserve a better friend than her, just so you know Jake if I was on that show I would have smacked her right then and there for saying such nonsense and ruin your chance at happiness. I noticed the way you looked at Tom you have never looked at any other guy that way I want you to know that I will support you no matter the cost not because you're my brother but because you're my best friend in the entire world, even if when we have partners we will always know that they will be our fourth wheels on our double dates, Jake I know that you deserve so much better than the treatment you got on this show. Jake I love you with my whole heart and soul more than you ever know, remember the promise we made when we were kids "stay together even if we are too far apart" I know that quote was made up when we were kids but I always think about it every time I miss you when we're far apart. Remember we're not just siblings we're best friends until the end of time until our next life I will always be there for you no matter the cost.

Jake tears fall onto a letter, he's crying slightly with a small smile on his face knowing how much his sister truly cares about him, he hugs the letter to his chest with a smile on his face being happy that his sister is always watching out for him even if he's far away from her. Jake reread the letter a couple of times then hears a knock at the door he puts the letter down on the bed and gets up with a small smile on his face he opens the door and sees that it's Ashley holding a small plate of food. Ashley sees the small smile on his face and she smiles at him.
Ashley: "So you read the letter, huh?"
Jake: "Yeah I did."
Ashley: "What did your sister say?"
Jake: "She said that I don't have to go through this alone and that she'll be there for me I guess I have something to look forward to when I get home."
Ashley: "That's really sweet, she sounds like such a nice person. Oh here's your dinner by the way."
Ashley hands Jake the plate that has his dinner which he takes with a small smile.
Jake: "Thanks but I still think I'm going to eat in my room, until the finale."
Ashley: "It's okay I understand take all the time you need."
Jake nods at her while closing the door with a small smile on his face. Ashley walks away going down the stairs to see the others except Grett who went to bed straight after dinner waiting for her with curious looks.
Will: "So how is he?"
Ashley: "He seems to be a little better after reading his sister's letter."
Lill: "That's good."
Ashley: "But he still wants to eat in his room until the finale."
Gabby: "I guess that's better than nothing."
Ashley: "Don't put him under pressure y'all, I think we should all head to bed now."
Everyone nods in agreement and heads to the respected rooms. When Tom enters his room he sighs with a sad look on his face knowing that Jake is sad partly because of him and after hearing about the letter that Rachel sent Jake, Tom feels a little happy knowing that Jake still has someone that will support him even after everything, but feels upset that he's not that person.

Season 3 episode 17
******
Jake and Connor were sitting on two rocks reading the letters they got from home both of them smiling at their letters.
Jake: "What's yours say?"
Connor: "My best friend Kenneth just got married. He sent me some photos."
Jake: "Aww, that's nice!"
Connor: "He also said he's proud of how I handled Riya and that I shouldn't sell myself short, that I have what it takes to fight to the end."
Jake: "He's damn right."
Connor: "What's yours say?"
Jake smiles while looking at the letter, then looks back at Connor with a somewhat happy and sad smile.
Jake: "It's from my sister she's telling me how proud she is and how our dad called. Both him and our mom are still upset."
Connor: "What happened?"
Jake: "I never came out to them officially. They found out when season 1 started airing and found out that Rachel has a girlfriend not long after, and they weren't very accepting of both of us. After the show ended Miriam helped me and Rachel move out, but we haven't talked since."
Connor: "That's awful! I'm sorry Jake."
Jake: "Yeah well, what can you do, right?"
Connor: "Your parents are just closed-minded. Acceptance comes slow."
Jake smiles at Connor with a grateful and happy look.

Season 3 episode 20

Ally and Jake were sitting together and drinking coconut juice relaxing before the finale starts.
Ally: "Jake, this might sound crazy, but you have to trust me today."
Jake: "You're not gonna flip on the heroes again, are you?"
Ally: "I won't. You know? Back when season 1 aired, I was rooting for you."
Jake: "Huh, no way."
Ally: "Yeah way. That phone call about your grandmother, I saw it in the hospital with my."
Jake: "I remember. Sorry about your grandpa."
Ally: "Wish he could see me now. I can't watch my first season without seeing a Love struck, clueless girl who never got her footing in the game."
Jake: "I guess we have that in common."
Ally: "What happened with your grandma? If you don't mind me asking."
Jake: "I thought I'd never forgive myself for choosing to compete while she was bedridden and when my sister was not at her best. I almost didn't come back."
Ally: "So why did you?"
Jake looks down with a sad look while sighs and looks back at Ally.
Jake: "After Season 1 ended, my sister gave me a letter from her. She wrote it moments before passing. She told me that everything she did for me and my sister was worth it."
Ally cries a little while sniffling looking at Jake with an understanding look.
Ally: "I'm sorry. That must've been difficult for your family."
Jake: "Hell if I know. They were too busy being mad at me and my sister for being gay. Anyways, I wasn't okay for a long time. Not that I usually am but this time I almost did something that I regret but I'm glad to still be here."
Ally: "I'm glad you're still here, Jake. We all are, and the way you talk about your sister she sounds like such a great person."
Jake: "Yeah I'm happy that I have her by my side the entire time when I needed it. Rachel's an amazing person and she's not just my sister she's also my best friend ever since I could remember."
Ally: "I wish I had someone like that at my side when I needed it."
Jake: "You were actually one of the few people she was rooting for in season 2. She still thinks you're cool."
Ally: "That makes me happy to hear."
Jake: "She used to always love playing video games She has a passion for it, when our grandma got sick and passed away she stopped for a while, but when she started watching season 2 and saw you talking about your grandpa, she started playing video games again. She always beats me at most of them."
Ally: "Aww, that makes me happy to hear I'm glad she's back with her passion."
Jake: "Anyways, enough with the sappy shit! We need to eat and be ready to beat Riya."
Ally looks at Jake nodding in understanding knowing what he means and hoping that they could make it to the finale together and one of them winning in the end.

Letter scene

After Jake and Riya were finished reading the letters from different people Ally was about to read Jake's letter, when Jake notices something.
Jake: "Wait a second. Ally who does it say it's from?"
Ally looks at the bottom of the page and looks back at Jake.
Ally: "It says it's from your brother Shawn."
Jake: "I haven't spoken to my brother for over a year. I specifically ask the producers to only let me talk to my sister and for her to be the only one who can write to me."
Ally looks shocked and realizes that Riya tried to trick them again. Riya looks nervous with both Jake and Ally glaring at her with anger looks on their faces.
Jake: "You were planning to turn me and Ally against each other weren't you? By making Ally reading a fake letter no wonder you suggested this idea."
Jake pushes Riya off the log she's sitting on and goes through her bag finding the real letter from his sister and gives it to Ally, who rips up the fake letter and takes the real one but looks a little hesitant.
Ally: "Are you okay with me reading this?"
Jake: "I don't mind I mean me and Riya did read other people's letters so it seems fair you get to too."
Ally opens the letter to see what Jake's sister wrote and starts reading what Jake sister had wrote to him and smiles at what Rachel wrote to her brother.
Ally: "Dear Jake I am so proud of you for making it to the final three I hope that you or Ally win instead of that horrible actress Riya. I'm so happy that you made so many good friends, although I was disappointed the way you acted during the first elimination, but I know your mind wasn't in the right place. Me and Michelle are your biggest supporters, I really hope that you win to be honest although I do like Ally, I just want you to know no matter the cost I will be by your side even if you act like a total baby sometimes. I just want you to know that no matter what happens even if you win or not I will still support you, and also I can't wait to see you and Tom get together, that way he can join us on double dates although we both know that he will be one of the fourth Wheels with Michelle, I really do hope you find your happiness with him you crazy guy. Grandma would be so proud of you for making it to the finale 3 as well, I know for a fact that she's in your heart and mine she'll support you through the finale. Good luck in the finale, and smack Riya across the face and tell her that she is a 20 ranked actress for me with love Rachel."
Ally looks up from the letter looking at Jake with a smile on her and looks at Riya with a small smirk.
Ally: "See you at the finale Riya, looks like me or Jake might win."
Riya gets up angrily and walks away with a angry look on her face. When she's gone Ally and Jake look at each other they both laugh at what Riya tried to do.
Jake: "The nerv she has."
Ally: "I know, how desperate is she?"
Jake: "I guess she's pretty desperate to win. I mean my sister was not wrong in her letter, she is a 20 ranked actress."
Ally: "She is right about that, but she sounds like such a nice person when I read this letter honestly I want to meet her after the show's over. Maybe we can hang out sometime and play video games together?"
Jake: "I'm sure she would love that."
Both Jake and Ally laugh at the thought of hanging out after the show with Jake sister.
Ally: "I'm guessing that Michelle is her girlfriend?"
Jake: "Yeah that's her girlfriend."
Ally: "Well I hope I can meet her as well."
Both Ally and Jake hug each other with huge smiles on their faces hoping that one of them could win the game instead of Riya.

The cave challenge

Inside of the cave Ally and Fiore just got done finding their ten gems then Jake and James run up to them. Ally smiles at Jake them points to him with questionable smile.
Ally: "I've got my 10 gems, did you get your 10 gems Jake?"
Jake: "Yep, are you ready to crush Riya together Ally?"
Ally: "Oh yeah, just so you know if I do win I am going to rub it in, just a bit."
Jake: "Honestly same here."
Fiore: "Since when did you two become close? I thought you hated each other."
James: "That's what I thought."
Ally: "Well Riya did try to trick us earlier by making me read a fake letter but Jake figured it up pretty quickly and gave me the real letter from his sister. She stated that she's hoping that me or Jake wins, oh she also called Riya 20 ranked actress."
Fiore and James look at each other and look back at Ally and Jake and they all start laughing with James holding his head, Fiore holding her stomach, Jake putting his hand on his chest, and Ally is leaning back while trying to fall down.
Fiore: "Oh my god, that is the most funniest thing about Riya I've ever heard."
James: "I have to agree, oh man. I mean she's not wrong about Riya. I bet everyone else thinks so too."
Ally: "Oh, yeah I forgot to mention she also said that she hopes that Jake and Tom will finally get together."
Jake blushes in embarrassment with James, Fiore and Ally slightly laughing a bit, all three of them hoped that moment could happen for Jake to finally have his happiness.

Season 3 episode 21

Everyone was on the bus after the finale was over and after Riya won the 3 million dollar prize money, Tom, Jake, Miriam, Aiden, James, and Lake in the back of the bus talking about what they're going to do after the show.
Tom: "So, what's the plan for y'all?"
Aiden: "Lake, James and I are going on a trip!"
Lake: "I'm showing Aiden and James a taste of Germany! What about you guys?"
Jake: "Oh, we're going to spend some much overdue time together."
Tom: "Miriam, you know you're always welcome to come with us, right?"
Miriam: "Bah! That's a good one. No, you owe Jake the alone time just make sure to visit me and the girls."
After Miriam says that, Jake's phone rings he pulls it out and sees that it's his sister calling and he smiles while answering the call.
Jake: "Hey Rach, whoa slow down you're talking too fast. Yeah you saw it right I guess we are official we're just going to probably spend some time alone together and then we'll see you and Michelle okay bye."
Aiden: "Was that your sister?"
Jake: "Yeah, that was her, she's a little excited for me."
Lake: "She must be happy for you. Who is Michelle exactly?"
Miriam: "That's Rachel's girlfriend she's an absolute sweetheart."
Tom: "Well I can't wait to meet them, they sound like such great people."
Jake: "Honestly I'm pretty excited for you to meet them as well, we can go on a double date maybe."
Tom: "Hehe, that sounds like a plan."
