This story is a fan-made work (fanfiction) and has no official connection or authorization from the creators of the Matrix trilogy or Animatrix.

The inspiration for this tale comes from the films created by the Wachowskis, as well as the Animatrix anthology. This story is my attempt to answer questions that arose while watching these works. At the same time, I wanted to explore other topics that fascinate me, such as artificial intelligence, the nature of humanity, and the moral and philosophical consequences of coexistence between humans and machines.

The Matrix universe provides a unique context for delving into these ideas. My story serves as an alternate vision of how events might unfold, leading to the complete destruction of the Matrix and the liberation of humanity.

All rights to the original storyline, characters, names, and events belong to their rightful owners. This story has been created solely for entertainment, educational, and non-commercial purposes.

Plot

The story begins in the Machine City, where we see Neo being carried by the machines. A debate ensues about what to do with his body after his death. Meanwhile, the Architect and the Oracle have a conversation in which, while acknowledging that peace has been achieved, they question its permanence. The Architect assures that anyone who wishes to leave the Matrix will be able to do so. The Oracle predicts that Neo will return someday.

Neo's body is transported through 01, the capital of the Machine City. The machines discover Trinity's body near the wreckage of the ship and decide that resurrecting her, like Neo, would be beneficial. Neo receives new eyesight, and Trinity is implanted with new organs. The machines erase their memories and place them back into an updated version of the Matrix. The seventh version of the simulation introduces significant changes. They are placed in the simulation as part of an experiment, being remnants of an older version of the Matrix. The Architect's promise becomes a mere illusion—while theoretically, anyone could leave this "prison of minds" in practice, no one will be able to. Ineffective programs, such as the Architect and the Oracle, are removed. It is certain that Agent Smith will not return. Agents are updated and are now more brutal. The roles of the Architect and Smith are taken over by a new Agent, Agent Johnson, commonly known as Root.

A division occurs in the machine world. Some machines decide to side with humans, while others continue to defend the Matrix. The machines develop technology allowing them to connect to the simulation and take on human forms. This technology is accessible only to machines that have allied with humans. Another conflict arises, known as the Battle of Zion. The aid of the "Old Generation" machines helps humanity defend itself. The world is split into two poles. One consists of "New Generation" machines, determined to ensure the Matrix's survival at any cost. The other comprises humans and "Old Generation" machines, who had sought cooperation with humans since the early 21st century and had demanded their rights before the war broke out. In this part of the world, natural environments and cities are being rebuilt. The first city to emerge is named Zion, sharing its name with humanity's last bastion. The "Old Generation" machines return to their former humanoid forms.

The machine responsible for resurrecting Neo and Trinity is Chiron. He was also the one who erased Trinity's memories. Chiron witnessed the beginning of the war and was one of the first to side with humans. He also fought in the second Battle of Zion. The robot who erased Neo's memories is Weles. After the war ended, Weles didn't know which side to choose, so he decided to permanently connect himself to the Matrix and live on the edge of the simulation, in a place where no one was meant to reach. After being placed back into the simulation, Neo and Trinity perceive everything as a nightmarish dream. Years pass, yet the nightmare keeps returning regularly.
