Okay here we go

I remember it like it was yesterday, like I can still feel the warmth of the sun on my skin and hear the laughter of my parents in the background. It was one of those rare days when everything seemed perfect. I was about seven years old, and we were at one of those big family picnics with the Kings, our parents' best friends. Zane was there too, of course.

Back then, I didn't mind him at all. In fact, I liked Zane. He was the older kid, cool and always in the center of attention, but he had this charm. He was the kind of kid who could make everyone laugh, especially the adults, I thought he was funny, smart, and yeah, I'll admit it, cool. We even hung out a few times. He was my friend, or at least, I thought he was.

That summer afternoon was supposed to be one of those carefree days where everything felt right. I'd been so proud of my little project that morning, making lemonade with my mom. We'd squeezed the lemons together, mixed the sugar, and the sweet tangy smell still lingered in my memory. I remember how my hands had felt sticky from the syrup, and how I couldn't wait to share it with everyone. It was just one of those moments where I thought, This is it. Today's going to be great.

So, I walked over to Zane, who was sitting on the edge of the lawn, leaning back with that typical smirk of his. He wasn't paying attention to me at first, but when he saw me holding the glass of lemonade, his eyes lit up.

"Hey, Zane!" I said, a little excited to show him what I'd made. I was hoping for a compliment, maybe a smile. "I made this myself. Want to try it?"

I thought, Finally, a moment where we're both laughing together.

He reached out, grabbed the glass, and I watched as he raised it to his lips.

But then...

"Oops," Zane said, his grin widening. Before I could even process what was happening, he threw the entire glass of lemonade—my lemonade—right at me. It splashed all over my favorite dress, a brand new one, with pink flowers. The sticky liquid soaked into the fabric almost instantly.
