It was raining like it always did in this part. I walked down the road, my boots sloshing in the mud as I went. This was not fun. I called out for my steed. I had lost sight of her after the tumble. Finding this group of dwarves would be a lot harder than I initially thought. The first wizard I came by said he would help, but that deal ended up being a load of lies. It's not the first time though, I've been lied to plenty, my dad, brother, and myself. It's almost as if everyone I know lies to me. Besides my mother, I wince a little at the thought of her. Or maybe it's the pain in my leg, either way, there's a dull pain. I wrap my coat around me tighter, freezing. I ought to listen to my father, who always told me to pack extra layers. I didn't, at least this time, I thought it would be a fast trip through dry lands. I never told my father I was leaving, though that was 10 years ago, it doesn't matter much now. Although maybe if my father had extended patrols out west more I wouldn't have been in this mess, stupid orcs always getting in the way. Which is strange, I hadn't seen that many orcs in a long long time. Not since... Was this a sign, it probably was, I'm just too blind. Carrying on, on this muddy long dark road. Final destination, I have no clue. Possibly somewhere dry, with food.
"You look like you could use some gold, care for a trade." A voice said.
I turned to my left and another wizard.
"Who are you?" I ask
"I'm Gandalf the grey."
Huh, Gandalf.
"Why would you need my help?" I said, now thinking he never said anything about help.
"I never- Yes! I need your help. I have a mission for you, find the seven rings and destroy them, Especially the one that controls them all."
I've heard of the tales many times before, but never thought I would get caught in the legacy. I believe my father has a ring. Possible. The rings were made for each kingdom, a final made to rule them all. The final ring calls to its bearer and devices it. A man turned long ago. It's Sauron trying to gain control of Middle Earth again. That horrid battle many years ago.
"Alright, where do I find this?" I ask
"The group of dwarves they are heading-" Gandalf is cut off by a rustling noise.
"I'll speak with you again sometime. I'll find you. Until then, safe travels Lona."
That had to have been the weirdest interaction ever with a wizard. I continue down the road in search of a dry place for the night. I came across a brewery. It also has a motel on top of it.
Ringdingding. I open the door, it slams shut with a thud. I jump at the noise.
"Well hello there, fancy seeing you here." A short man says.
"Uh-"
"Beautiful night, ain't it?" He continues, "Don't get many customers, we're too far out of the way and in a dangerous area." He mocks past customers with the last sentences.
"Cool, I was wondering if I could get a room here for the night?" I ask.
"Oh! But of course." He leads me to a room, "Payment will be"
"You can pay in the morning." A woman says coming out of the shadows, "The names Aliver, yours?"
"Lona," I say shaking her hand
"Don't get many elves around here." She tells me
"Uh, how do you know-" I'm cut off by her again.
"I know everything dear, Lona, I suggest you get some rest. You have quite a few days ahead of you."
