The room was eerily quiet as the ten contestants were led into the arena for the second round. Unlike the obstacle course from the previous day, this setup seemed almost serene. A series of tables had been arranged in two neat rows, each topped with a pile of puzzle pieces or a logic board. Spotlights highlighted the workspace for each contestant, casting dramatic shadows across the dimly lit room.

The host, dressed in his signature sharp suit, stepped into the spotlight. His presence immediately drew the contestants’ attention. “Welcome back, everyone!” he greeted, his tone upbeat yet laced with a hint of menace. “You survived Round 1, but now the stakes get a little trickier. Today, you’ll be testing your mental agility in what we like to call Puzzle Panic!”

The screen behind him flashed with an animation of puzzle pieces clicking into place, accompanied by a suspenseful drumroll.

“For this round,” the host continued, “you’ll each face either a jigsaw puzzle or a logic puzzle. The choice is yours, but keep in mind, this is a race against the clock. Only the first three to complete their puzzles will be safe from penalties. The rest? Well, you know the drill—stay in the game, but with a price.”

The contestants exchanged uneasy glances. Himanshu’s heart raced as he took in the stacks of puzzle pieces and logic boards on the tables. He was decent at puzzles, but speed had never been his strength.

The host’s grin widened. “Oh, and one more thing,” he said. “Today’s penalty involves a bit of a makeover. If you fail to finish in the top three, you’ll be wearing a wig styled in a feminine haircut—for the rest of the game.”

A ripple of discomfort spread through the group. Aditya groaned audibly, running a hand through his short-cropped hair. “Seriously?”

The host shrugged. “Remember, you can always quit. But if you stay, the penalties are permanent.”

---

The contestants were given thirty seconds to choose their preferred type of puzzle. Himanshu hesitated, his eyes darting between the brightly colored jigsaw pieces and the intricate patterns on the logic boards.

“Jigsaw,” he muttered under his breath, deciding that his chances were better with something visual.

Beside him, Rishi had already choosen his logic puzzle. Siddharth, ever confident, selected a jigsaw puzzle. Across the room, Aryan opted for logic, his calm demeanor unchanged from the previous round.

“Ready… set… go!” the host shouted.

---

Himanshu’s hands trembled as he sorted through the pile of jigsaw pieces in front of him. He started with the edges, just as he’d learned in childhood, but the sheer number of pieces was overwhelming. The image on the box—a picturesque garden with countless flowers and trees—seemed impossibly detailed.

“Focus, focus,” he muttered, trying to block out the sounds of pieces clicking together from the tables around him.

To his left, Siddharth was already making significant progress, his athletic energy now channeled into mental sharpness. On the other side, Rishi worked on his logic puzzle with a calm determination, his pencil scratching rapidly against the grid.

At the far end of the room, Aditya looked panicked, his hands hovering indecisively over his jigsaw pieces. “This is ridiculous,” he whispered, his voice barely audible over the quiet hum of concentration.

---

The pressure mounted as the minutes ticked by. Himanshu managed to complete the frame of his puzzle but found himself stuck trying to piece together the sky. Every blue piece looked identical, and he couldn’t seem to find the right fit.

“Come on, Himanshu, you’ve got this,” he whispered, trying to keep his composure.

Across the room, the tension was palpable. Kunal and Rahul, both working on jigsaws, exchanged competitive glances as they raced to complete their puzzles. Vikram, seated next to Aryan, cursed under his breath as he erased yet another failed attempt at his logic puzzle.

Siddharth let out a triumphant cheer as he placed the final piece of his jigsaw. “Done!” he announced, raising his hands in victory.

The host clapped enthusiastically. “Siddharth is our first safe contestant! Excellent work.”

The remaining contestants groaned inwardly but kept their focus.

---

Rishi was the next to finish, his logic puzzle completed with surgical precision. “Second place goes to Rishi!” the host declared, his voice cutting through the tense atmosphere.

The competition for the final spot intensified. Kunal and Rahul were neck-and-neck, their hands flying over their jigsaw pieces. Aryan remained calm, his methodical approach paying off as he neared the end of his logic puzzle.

Himanshu felt a pang of despair. His progress was too slow, and the pile of unsorted pieces loomed like an insurmountable mountain. He glanced at the others, realizing that he wasn’t just competing for speed—he was fighting to avoid the penalty.

“Kunal takes the third spot!” the host announced as Kunal completed his jigsaw with a triumphant grin.

Himanshu’s heart sank. The penalty was now unavoidable.

---

The buzzer sounded, signaling the end of the round. The remaining contestants slumped in their chairs, exhaustion and frustration etched on their faces.

The host stepped forward, his ever-present smile tinged with mock sympathy. “Congratulations to Siddharth, Rishi, and Kunal for completing the challenge. You’re safe from today’s penalty. For the rest of you, it’s decision time.”

The screen behind him lit up, showing a demonstration of the penalty: a contestant from a previous season donning a long, styled wig that completely altered his appearance.

Himanshu swallowed hard, his fingers tightening into fists.

The host continued. “As always, you have a choice. Quit now and walk away, or accept the penalty and stay in the game.”

---

One by one, the remaining contestants agreed to the penalty, though their unease was evident. Aditya hesitated, visibly torn, but eventually nodded.

When it was Himanshu’s turn, he took a deep breath. “I’ll stay,” he said firmly, though his voice wavered slightly.

The penalty was administered immediately. The wigs were chosen to suit each contestant’s face, though the exaggerated femininity of the styles made them all look out of place. Himanshu’s wig was a sleek bob with soft curls framing his face, the unfamiliar weight making him feel self-conscious.

“Looking good, contestants!” the host quipped, earning a few weak laughs.

Himanshu glanced at his reflection in a nearby mirror, his stomach churning. This was only the second round, and the penalties were already pushing boundaries. But he couldn’t afford to quit—not yet.

As the contestants left the arena, the stakes felt heavier than ever. Each step forward came at a cost, and Himanshu knew the road ahead would only get harder.
