Emily and the dark moon (Next gen AU)

Prologue

Sonic and Tails were sat together in a lab within the Gloomy Manor in Shadow Valley. While Sonic isn't normally into science like Tails is, he knew his first friend liked his help.

"Sonic," Said Tails, "Could you put the Dark light upgrade on charge please?"

"Sure thing, Buddy." Said Sonic, taking the aforementioned upgrade part and putting it in some sort of case.

While Sonic was completing his task, a green ghost wearing a white lab coat hovered behind him, a huge smile on their face.

"I know you're there, Doc Tastroffy." Chuckled Sonic, turning to face the ghost.

"It gets harder and harder to sneak up on you, Prince Sonic." The ghost chuckled too.

Sonic just sighed and turned away. He always hated it when somebody (who isn't Shadow, Sonya or Manic) called him prince, but Professor Kane Tastroffy was one of the two scientists Sonic knew who didn't want him dead. He just flashed the undead professor a smile.

After Sonic put the part on charge, he kept talking to Dr Kane while his assistants (Greenies Sonic remembered them being called) and Tails worked. All of them unaware of the monster lurking outside.

Invisible to the giants of the valley below, a stranger wearing a black cloak to camouflage himself among the night sky stared evilly at the Dark Moon.

"They'll never know what hit them." He laughed to himself, charging up his power and pointing a single finger at the Dark Moon.

The Dark Moon flashed for a second, then broke. The six pieces falling into Shadow Valley like stars. The man in the cloak looked down into the valley, his dark eyes flashing with malicious mischief.

"Three..." He whispered. "Two... One."

"...So anyway, I started blast—" Sonic was continuing to talk about his past adventures when he saw Ken flinch. "Hey, Doc, are you ok?"

"P-p-p-prince..." He stammered, his hands on his head, "R-r-run... s-s-something's wrong with the Dar—"

But that's all he got out when a glass beaker was thrown at Sonic's head. He ducked and started to run out, grabbing Tails' hand.

However, as they made their escape, Tails ran into something and the force made him let go of Sonic's hand. Sonic, however, didn't notice. He was more focused on the weird red fog which clouded his vision.

He kept running, out the front gates, and he soon found himself heading in the direction of a foxhole bunker Tails had made just in case. The only problem was he couldn't see the entrance.

"Come on!" He complained. "Where IS that stupid trap—"

Before he could finish his complaint, though, his foot connected to something and he fell through a tunnel and, thankfully, landed on a mattress.

"Well, at least I found the—" Sonic cut himself off again when something hard and heavy collided with his head. "OW! What hit me?! Wait..."

He picked up the thing which tripped him and hit his head. It was a purple jewel, radiating with energy, but a different energy than what the Chaos Emeralds emit.

"This... Jewel..." He whispered, picking it up and taking it over to a computer. The computer scanned it and beeped. "No way! This is a Dark Moon piece! The Dark Moon's broken! That's why Doc Tastroffy told us to run! What do we do, Tails?!"

Sonic looked around the foxhole. Tails wasn't with him.

"Tails?!" He called. When he didn't hear him, he gasped. "Aw no! He must still be stuck in the Gloomy Manor! And the Yokai Vac's still in there too! What do I do?!"

He then saw the drawing of the suit Tails designed for his daughter's birthday. It was a disguise so Emily could walk among her enemies, a black bear wearing a red top hat and bowtie holding what appeared to be a microphone. However, it also had a function where, if Emily was out past her bedtime or one of her parents wanted to see her, the robot would bring her to them.

Sonic didn't know how the disguise would bring his baby angel to him, but he needed her help. He decided to warn her first, in case he and she didn't like how she was brought over.
