Beep Beep Beep

Sweat was dripping down Nayeon's forehead while she was operating on a patient.

The patient needed a heart transplant, and Nayeon was assigned to the job since she was one of the best surgeons in whole South Korea.

"Tweezers." Nayeon said. A nurse rapidly extended the said object to her.

The nurses were wiping off Nayeon's sweat, their hearts beating fast while watching Nayeon saving a life.

'Come on, you can do it.' Nayeon thought to herself.

Beep——

The Korean girl retrieved the heart and placed it on a tray. "Bring me the heart." Nayeon ordered.

A nurse went for the small container that carried the heart, and carefully took out the organ to give it to Nayeon. "Here it is, doctor." She said.

Nayeon took the heart, and put it back into the patient. She sewed back the heart, connecting the parts that needed to be connected. She then stood still, observing the patient.

Beep——

'Come on...' Nayeon prayed.

The long beeping went on. The heart of Nayeon was beeping fast, the sound of it being too loud inside her. She closed her eyes tightly, praying for the surgery to go well.

Beep Beep Beep

Nayeon opened her eyes, seeing that the heart began beating again. The numbers in the heart rate monitor were getting stable.

A small smiled appeared in Nayeon's lips.

"Doctor! You did it!" The nurses cheered with a big smile. Nayeon returned the smile to them.

"Let's finish the job and grab something to eat afterwards." Nayeon suggested. The nurses nodded with big smiles before finishing the last steps of the surgery.

Nayeon was finally in her office taking a small break after standing for long hours in the operation room.

She stretched a bit, her bones cracking. "It feels so good~" She said with a satisfy tone. She then averted her eyes to her desk.

On her desk there was a mess of papers and documents waiting for her to work on. Nayeon sighed tiredly. She was going to work on the documents when a photo frame caught her attention. She took the frame and took a long look on it, a smile tugging on the corner of her lips. It was a picture of Y/N and her in their graduation day.

Y/N and her were girlfriends since their freshman year. Both of them were from the same major, and both of them were aspiring to be future surgeons. They graduated and became what they desired the most.

However, everything that they desired for came with a price.

Both of them worked in the same hospital as surgeons, but the time they had to see each other decreased significantly. They lived together, but they couldn't see each other as much as they wanted. If Nayeon was at home, Y/N would be at the hospital. If Y/N was at home, Nayeon would be working. If, miraculously, both of them were at home, one of them would be called in with urgency.
