"You mask your emotions so well; did you think everyone will be fooled?"
Her bluntness left Kai dumbfounded. He never anticipated her to speak such words. His sapphire eyes narrowed in annoyance. The Stephanie he knew, preferred to stay aloof and never bother him. She felt like a different person.
"Do I look like an AI bot reading human minds?" added the periwinkle-haired upon sensing Kai's bafflement.
His menacing gaze couldn't shake off her calm demeanour. Dauntless, she eyed him and waited for his response. Kai turned away from her and stared at the horizon. But Stephanie went on pestering the "Ice prince" of the Bladebreakers until he lost his cool and grit his teeth.
"Get out!"
"Why only me?"
"Very well," Kai said coldly and left the woods at that instant.
In his eyes, Stephanie resembled a siren luring him into a honey trap. Her placid face enraged him even more.
Half An Hour Later
Melodious birdsong enlivened the tranquil surroundings. And Stephanie basked under the Sun with the green velvet floor as her bed. Her black orbs peered the snow-white clouds floating in the sky.
Now that her plan had worked well, Stephanie didn't care how remorse Kai felt. She knew about his aversion for crazy fangirls and just pretended to be clingy. For the while Kai would avoid her at all costs. This gave Stephanie ample time to think before he discovered what she had in her sleeve. Of course, Kai would never know that he had been fooled.
Deceiving others, however, gave her no joy. This victory evoked no emotion in her.
Suddenly she recalled how the furious Kai mockingly called her a hypocrite. His reaction entertained her.
Unperturbed, Stephanie chuckled softly, "Façade, you say?" Her periwinkle strands fluttered in the wind.
Her palm tickled as it brushed over the grass. She plucked a twig and blew it away. Her lips parted again.
"My placidness isn't a façade. Believe it or not."
Stephanie enjoyed her solitude amidst nature. Little did she know that the memories she'd be making at the Bey City would linger in her mind forever.
