Sarao had her absolute bad luck that day. First she missed her bus and was therefore late for work, then she also ran into the arms of her boss who reprimanded her for her mishap and gave her even more work. She finally had to go about her work until the early evening. When she finally came out of the office building it was still raining, without her having an umbrella, she has to go to the train to get home. So Sarao went off discontentedly and tried to avoid the rain as much as possible by pressing herself against the wall of the house like a cat.
As she walked through a side street, Sarao discovered a woman standing completely soaked on the street. When she decided to just go on, Sarao heard a ghostly woman's voice.
「私綺麗?」She asks in Japanese, which means "Am I beautiful?".
Sarao turned around and stood almost nose to nose to the ghostly woman and muttered a short「はい」and nodded slightly.
The woman seemed to smile under the mask and asked 「これでも」Which means "Even so?", but before Sarao could say anything, she pulled it down and exposed her disfigured mouth. The young woman screamed at the sight of what was offered to her, a slit mouth at the corners of which blood dripped down and still looked quite fresh.
「私綺麗?」The woman repeated with a diabolical grin on her face. Poor Sarao had the shock of her life and shouted at the woman「いいえ」and shook her head rapidly.
The woman's grin was extinguished and she took a blood-smeared knife from her Annorak pocket and began to chase her victim.
Sarao narrowly escaped the demon, and only because she threw a pair of hard candies (bekko ame) at the woman and thus got enough time to escape to the train...
