Mother's regret -child of nowhere

He looked at her with sad eyes, tears glowing with a soft light blue intensity, "i am sorry..." He said, his voice small and afraid, laced with a bit of shame .

She looked at her son, a soft expression of shock on her face :"...what are you sorry for ?.... Oh darling, you didn't do anything wrong...i should be the one to apologize..." Her voice began to waver and shake , but she had to let it out "i...i am so sorry for leaving you all those years ago. my rage and grief have blinded me , i wanted to find your little brother, but in doing so....i left you vulnerable...i am so sorry Alastair"

her eyes are now foggy from tears, her regret and guilt as she saw the old scar that marred her dearest son's face, from his right temple to his left cheek, mercifully leaving the boy's eyes and mouth unharmed, she resisted tracing the scar with her finger, afraid of making him uncomfortable;

he wasn't ready .......no......she wasn't worthy yet of touching him, not when she left him, barely the height of her hips, not when she left him in his father's arms, telling him she'll come back soon, yet she never did...she  came back too late...she still cannot Believe her son's now a teenager. She cupped her own face , unable to look at her son's eyes any longer , her tears continued to fall down, as she sat at the tip of the bed beside him as he layed under the covers, his sea green eyes looking up at her with an expression of both sorrow and calculation, he looked tired yet refused to sleep "Alastair...please rest for now... I'll be here in the morning close by you" she said , her voice soft and gentle, he looked at her one final time before he finally closed his eyes and she finally uttered the courage to gently caress his platinum blond hair, her heart breaking and mending when the boy flinched then melted in her touch.... He finally succumbed to rest
