Karen shook her head, clearing her thoughts. Slow tears made their way down her pale cheeks. Somehow, she'd gotten the courage to tell Matt, to tell Matt her deepest, darkest secret, their deepest, darkest secret. As that thought hit her another wave came and she's gone.
His soft voice through the dark had rattled her to her core.
'Kaz...' he'd breathed dreamily. 'Kaz...'
Each breath she'd taken was heavily and almost panted but she'd still found the air to whisper his name:
'Matt... Matt...'
For the first time in an eternity, her head was not filled with thoughts of the media, her fear and what if. Instead all Karen could think of was Matt and only Matt.
'It will all be okay,' Matt had whispered as she gasped aloud. 'Shhh Kaz, shhhh,'
