Chapter 1: Baby

OMG! The first chapter of Heat!!!!
Okay, so this is set four months in the future so Shay is 8 months pregnant (Girl: Courtney Severide), Gabby is 6 months pregnant (Girl: Danielle Casey), then Donna and Boden got married and Donna is also 6 months pregnant (Boy: Tay Boden). I know that Donna and Boden were just introduced in the last chapter of Burning Flames, but I wanted to get Boden's love life going considering he has basically been a side character through out most of the first book. So let's get going!!

4 months later- before shift
---
Gabriela Dawson's POV
---

I'm woken up by Matt's alarm, and he quickly shuts it off.
"Matt, be careful." I murmur seeing he's already dressed as I start to quickly fall back to sleep.
"I will, baby. I love you, and I'll see you tomorrow." He says and then I feel his lips pressed to my temple.
He pulls back and I quickly fall back to sleep...

Later that morning

I walk downstairs to find Violet sitting on our couch.
"Hey, Vi. Did Christie drop you off?" I ask as I walk in to the living room.
"Yeah, she dropped me off just as Uncle Matt was walking out the door. I went upstairs and slept in my room then woke up about an hour ago." She explains.
"Oh, well, have you had breakfast yet?" I ask as she stands up.
"No. I can cook for you Gabby." She says.
"Not even Matt can cook for me lately, Vi, and that's saying something. Danielle has been craving everything." I say patting my swollen stomach.
"I can't believe that you guys are having a girl! We can dress her up and everything!" Violet says clapping her hands.
"I thought you were a tom-boy?" I ask laughing.
"I am, but I love dressing other people girly." She says as we walk in to the kitchen.
I laugh again as I open up the fridge and see a tin foil wrapped plate labeled, "For Gabby... maybe."
I open it to find loads of bacon, Danielle's favorite thing so far, and eggs.
"Violet, I stand corrected. He is starting to know what Danielle and I are craving after six months, whatdoya know." I say popping a piece of cold bacon in my mouth.
Making Violet laugh and make a face that made it obvious she thought it was gross I was eating bacon cold.
"I think I'll just have an orange juice. You don't mind if I steal one do you?" She asks since we had started buying orange juice, water, and apple juice for me, and that was the only thing I drank now.
"Go ahead, Matt just bought a whole case." I say as someone knocks.
I look at my watch to see that it was ten thirty, meaning Shay was here.
"Whose that?" Violet asks as she closes the fridge.
"Should be Shay, but considering the guys want Donna, Shay, and I to be careful about who we open the door to. Stay in the kitchen." I say grabbing my brother's old duty pistol off the counter and walking to the front door. I knock on it and Shay says, "It's me, Gabby. You don't have to aim a pistol at me."
I open the door with the pistol still ready, but let her in.
We walk in to the kitchen and I put the pistol back where it had been. Shay and I sit down at the barstool and start eating the cold bacon as Violet walks off looking disgusted. Shay and I both laugh as she starts up the stairs with that same disgusted look on her face.
"So how's Courtney doing?" I ask.
"Good, I think she's getting anxious though cause she is kicking a lot." She says rubbing her back.
"Yeah, so is Danielle. Though, I did actually get a good nights sleep last night." I say.
"Not me. The three of us were up all night." She says.
"Poor Kelly. Hey I just realized that it's lunch time. I was going to take Matt lunch. You wanna come?" I ask.
"Sure, I think I'll take Kelly lunch too." She says as we finish off the eggs and bacon.
"Violet, come on. We're going to take Matt and Kelly lunch." I call up the stairs.
"Coming. You two are done with the cold bacon right?" She asks as she comes downstairs.
"Yes, we're going to go to Arby's. That alright with you?" Shay says as we pull on our coats.
"That's fine. Let's go." Violet says grabbing her jacket and we walk out the door.
We get in my car, and pull off...

At the house
---

"Hey! It's, Dawson! What are you doing here?" Capp asks as Shay, Violet, and I all walk in.
"Thanks for the hospitality, Capp. Shay and I brought lunch for the lieutenants." I say holding up the food.
Then, producing another bag labeled Squad 3. Shay holds up a bag labeled Truck 81 and Ambo 61.
"Even when you're not here you are still giving us food. Good food too." James says as I set the bag on the table.
"Yeah, but there's no hurry for you to get back after you have the baby. Daniels is an awesome addition to Squad. Ain't that right, Daniels." Kyle says high-fiving a guy sitting in the seconds seat.
"Well, I'll be back a month or two after I have my baby. Don't get too comfortable in that seat." I say smiling.
We all laugh, and then Shay, Violet, and I walk inside. We walk in to the commons and set the food on the table. Everyone grabs at it and it ends up that Matt gets it.
"We brought you guys lunch, but Matt and Kelly have their own." Shay says.
Matt hands the bag to Herman and he starts handing it out as Kelly, Matt, Shay, and I all walk back to the briefing room, leaving Violet with the guys since she didn't want to eat with us. We all sit down and take our food out of the bag as Matt asks, "So did the food I left get ate?"
"Yes it did in fact. Shay and I both are on it." I say.
"Good. So when did you get up, Leslie?" Kelly asks.
"Umm, around ten." Shay answers.
"What about you, sleepy head?" Matt asks reaching across the table and taking my hand as we all start to eat.
I swallow my food and say, "A little before ten thirty."
"Well damn, I was right. You are a sleepy head." Matt says grinning.
"Whatever... so Kelly, what's with Daniels?" I ask then finish off my sandwich.
"Well, he's really good, is a lieutenant so he can be second, can cook, can take a team in on primary, qualified diver, can repel seamlessly, and can do any rescue he sees done once. He is basically the guy version of you, but can't get pregnant." He says.
"Uh-huh, no problems at all with him?" I ask.
"Nope, none. That's why Chief is considering letting you stay off about six months after you have Danielle." He says.
"So I am being put on extended maternity leave because of this guy. Great." I say sitting back in my seat with a heavy sigh.
"Possibly, he might get a spot permanently on S- Ow!" Kelly says as Shay hits him upside the head.
"Shut up. You basically just told her she might not have a job after Danielle is born." Shay says glaring at her husband.
"What?! No, Kyle is leaving to go to Florida." He says. Then adds, "Good god, Dawson, I'm not letting one of the best firefighters on Squad 3 go just to get some firefighter that just got on the department last year."
"Good. You were starting to stress me out." I say running my hand through my hair.
"Squad 3, Truck 81, Ambo 79, Battalian 25, house fire at 85972 Kensing." The bells go off.
"Be careful." Shay and I call after them as they run out.
"Alright, let's get everything cleaned up." I say.
"Yeah. I wonder why they didn't page 61 instead of 79." Shay says as we start cleaning everything up.
"I don't know. Maybe dispatch pages the wrong one." I say as we put the trash in the trash can and walk to the commons.
Suddenly Shay's hand flies to her stomach and she lets out a huff of breath.
"Shay, are you alright?" I ask as we walk in to the commons.
"Uh, I think it's just a false alarm. This happened early this morning." She says as she sits down.
"Mills, can you check her out?" I ask looking over at him.
"Yeah, I'll go get a jump bag." He says and jogs out to the ambo.
"Okay, how fast are they?" I ask.
"About a minute apart, but I think it's a false alarm. I'm only about eight and a half months." She says as Mills comes back in.
"Alright, just relax and breathe sweet heart." Tasha says as she puts the blood pressure cuff on her.
"My water just broke." Shay says.
"Shit. I'll go get the gurney." Mills says jogging out.
"I don't know if Courtney is going to wait to get to the hospital, Gabby." Shay says squeezing my hand.
"Okay, breathe. In... out... in... out... Mills we are going to have to deliver here." I say as Mills wheels the gurney in.
"Let's get her on to the gurney then to deliver." Mills says.
We help her on to the gurney and I pull on the gloves Tasha hands me. I crawl on to the gurney with Shay as they wheel is out.
I look down and see that the baby's crowning.
"Okay, Leslie, I can see her head. I need you to push hard on the count of three. One... two... three... push." I say.
She pushes.
"Again. One... two... three... push." I say.
She pushes again and I pull the baby...

Matthew Casey's POV
---

We finish putting out the fire and start loading gear when our radios go off and Mills says, "We are headed to Chicago Med with Shay and Courtney Gabriela Severide. Dawson delivered."
Everyone starts cheering and we all get in the trucks headed for Chicago Med.
"Congrats, Kelly." I say in to my radio.
"Just wait a few more months, Casey. You'll get the chance soon enough." He replies.
We pull in to Chicago Med and run inside. Nobody from our house anywhere in sight. Kelly and I walk to the desk and he asks, "What room is Leslie Severide in?"
"What's your relation?" The nurse asks.
"Husband." He states.
She searches it on her computer and she says, "There's no Leslie in the system."
"Uhh... try Shay Severide." I say.
"Yep room 216. She got a room very fast considering her friend was very persistent and knew all of the staff." She says.
We nod, and everyone from 51 hits the stairs and goes up to the second floor. We walk to room two sixteen and knock. Gabby opens the door and says, "Come in. Shay's awake."
We nod and Kelly, Herman, Boden, and I walk in. Mills, Violet, and Tasha are both already in here.
"Hey, babe. Good lord, she's beautiful." Kelly says as Shay hands him their daughter.
Someone had put a pink onesie on her, and wrapped her in a white blanket that I recognized as the one Gabby and I had gave them for the baby shower. It was a plush soft white baby blanket.
"You make cute kids, Severide." Herman says as he looks at his granddaughter, and then he adds as an afterthought, "I can't believe I'm a grandfather already."
"And at least one more granddaughter along the way. Plus a nephew." Gabby says as I wrap my arms around her.
"Hey a grandson not nephew. I am not old enough to be his sister." Donna says as she walks in.
"I'm not old enough to be a grandfather yet either, but I prefer grandson over nephew." Herman says as Gabby takes Courtney from him.
"She so cute." Gabby says.
"I can't believe that she's Kelly Severide's kid. She's too pretty." I say laughing.
"She's mine, Casey." Kelly says.
"I believe it the brown hair is his color of hair." Boden says taking Courtney...
