"Mandy, change in our live's is something we cannot avoid. Your gonna have to deal with this kiddo." My mom called from downstairs.
I rolled my eyes. Obviously this was easier for her than for me. Moving in with her brand new boyfriend in a brand new city was obviously easier for her.
I didn't reply to her statement. I turned into my big empty room and slammed the door. Hard.
I heard her sigh from inside my room.
I knew she wouldn't understand, she never has. From the moment my dad left us, my mom shut out reality and tried to create her own perfect life.
Her perfect life consists of one mistake of a child, and many many boyfriends.
I looked around at my boxes and huffed.
I started to unpack some random stuff, and came across some Polaroids of my old friends.
I only lived in that little town for about a year, but I made some great friends.
I smiled at the memories, and put the pictures aside for hanging.
I figured I would decorate my room the next day.
I was in my room for hours just unpacking until I finally collapsed on my newly made bed around 9:30 PM.
----------
I woke up and fumbled around for my phone by the edge of the bed. It read 3:30 AM.
I rubbed my eyes and changed my clothes from the day before to some night clothes.
Slowly opening my door, I creeped past my mom and her boyfriend's room and ran down the stairs towards the kitchen.
I opened the fridge to find there was nothing there.
"Jeez he's rich but doesn't buy any groceries"
"I can order some pizza if you want. The pizza place is open 24/7."
I turned to see Connor, my mom's boyfriend.
I will admit he's not as bad as her other picks. He's alright looking, and he treats us right. I have no clue where my mom and him met, but I can guess it was some bar.
I also don't know how they ended up with each other. They are both so different.
My moms a wild spirit and Connors just... Connor I guess. It's sort of indescribable.
Like you wouldn't see someone like my mom with a guy like Connor everyday.
"Uh that's alright I can hold off until tomorrow" I pursed my lips "thank you for offering though"
I ran out of the kitchen and back up the stairs to my room. I plopped myself down on my bed and tried to get comfy.
After what seemed like hours of tossing and turning, I decided to unpack the rest of my things.
After I was done organizing, I broke down the boxes, being mindful of the noise.
I figured I'd be needing the boxes again sometime soon so I shoved them in the back of my deep closet instead of throwing them away.
I settled into my bed again and let my thoughts wander.
I wondered if any good would come out of this move besides of course my mom being happy and having money.
I wondered how this boyfriend would work out. Maybe mom would finally settle down.
I chuckled at the thought.
I hoped that school would go smoothly this year, just like the last. School started next month, I was going into my senior year. I couldn't wait to graduate a live a life of my own.
The sun was just peaking through the distant horizon when I finally drifted off.
