"You should probably head towards the warehouse street soon," Dazai remarks, ignoring your question completely. It was near Port Mafia territory, so you knew what he was hinting at; despite your current vexation, you decided to follow his advice. Sighing in irritation, you stand up, and without knowing it, Dazai makes sure to avoid touching you once more as you leave the booth. "There's a short ginger mafioso followed by two other mafioso, follow him there," Dazai advises you, just as you catch sight of a smaller male dressed in what looks like mafia attire outside, forcing you to hurry out of the cafe while Dazai watches you from the window.
It was thanks to the crowds that you managed to follow the men without being spotted since the shorter man in the middle was constantly on the watch; he wasn't the kind of person you would be able to tail usually. Unfortunately, the crowd also made it difficult to keep track of the trio, and the rain didn't help either.
It didn't take long for you to realise they were investigating the areas you caused trouble around. You had caused plenty of trouble in a large area, so it took some time until they finally arrived at the warehouse street.
However, after a certain point, the crowds had faded, forcing you to shift into a small fox to keep yourself from being discovered. Unfortunately, after you hid around the corner of a warehouse, you lost sight of the men. Cursing to yourself, you finally decide to walk around in the open, acting like a simple-minded fox looking for scraps.
You didn't realise when you lost sight of the men; one of them had long since caught sight of you, and there was one problem with your choice of wild animals: Yokohama did not have any wild foxes. "Boss, I've located one of them," you hear a voice alarming you, compelling you to quickly pivot around to see the male you were pursuing all this time.
The man in front of you was short in height and had a petite yet muscular build. He had blue eyes, and striking orange hair made him hard to miss despite his small size. His hair framed his face and with a lengthier section that fell past his left shoulder. He wears a black hat with a brown hatband and a thin silver chain that hangs over the brim. His outfit consists of a white button-up shirt under a grey vest, a black choker, a black ribbon bolo tie held together with a small silver buckle, an open black cropped jacket with the sleeves rolled up at the elbows, black slacks, a black belt hanging off his right hip and black low-arch shoes, with black gloves to match. He also sports a long black coat with light-coloured lining and lapels that he wears around his shoulders like a cape. The undercoat is a light shade of red.
You could tell from one look at his eyes that you would finally enjoy a fight.
You narrowly dodge a kick he sends flying your way. Quickly shifting into that of an ability user, you barely have any time to react as you narrowly dodge a barrage of attacks. You could almost hear the sound of the air being sliced in two as the mafioso swung his leg to kick you relentlessly. There was an ability you refused to use unless it was for a thrilling battle against a strong opponent, and this was that time. The Gambler, as its name suggests, was a gamble. There was a chance to gain one of six effects; it only depended on the chess piece you received. After putting just enough distance from the mafioso, you reached your arm into the air and grabbed onto the chess piece that manifested. Unfortunately, you didn't have enough time to glimpse which piece it was. Kicked into a nearby warehouse, you drop the chess piece in your hand. You knew from that attack that it wasn't the Rook, as it allowed its user to erect an invisible wall as if within a castle or tower. Nor was it the Bishop, as you couldn't predict his attacks. He was enjoying the battle far too much for it to be the King either since that acted as a taunt, driving your opponent to specifically target you. The only options left were the Queen's speed, the Knight's strength, or you were down on your luck for the next five minutes, having gained nothing from the Pawn.
"Is that all you've got?" he yells, taunting you and smirking as he slowly approaches you, cracking his knuckles. You only look at him pleased, which only irritates him, resulting in him racing at you with another kick. However, this time, you easily block rather than narrowly dodging everything as you were previously doing.
It was the Knight. But it wasn't enough.
Strength alone wasn't enough to match his prowess, never mind overpowering him, as he quickly changed legs and sent a roundhouse kick to your side, causing you to clamour in pain. You might have been strong enough to prevent being kicked to the other side of the warehouse, but a direct hit of this force to your ribs was enough for you to fall to the ground. "This is just disappointing," he ridicules, kneeling to your level with a smirk, clearly enjoying all of this. While you, on the other hand, were relishing your defeat. It hurt like hell, yet it was the first time you truly felt the rush of a battle. After giving out a small chuckle, you spit out a bit of blood onto the floor and slowly lean backwards before slamming your head into his. "You fucking-" he barks out, taking a few seconds to regain his composure, giving you the time to put some distance between yourself and the now pissed-off male.
It was then you finally started to notice a faint glow around him, "Shit," you mutter, knowing whatever his ability was, you were screwed.
