"The bravest thing you can do is let yourself fall, even when you're terrified of the landing."

The sun had long dipped below the horizon, casting Monte Carlo in a shimmering glow of the streetlights and distant laughter. Angelys found herself wandering around the cobblestone streets, heels clicking against the ground as she replayed their conversation in her head over and over again. There was something unsettling–and thrilling about the way Franco saw her, like he was peeling back the layers she hadn't even realised she'd been wearing.

Suddenly a text lit up her phone screen.

𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐨: 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮. 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬?

Her heart fluttered. She told herself it was curiosity, not nerves, that quickened her pace. Arriving at the harbour, she found him leaning casually against a sleek sports car, the soft hum of the sea filling the air around them.

"You're late," Franco teased, a boyish grin softening his chiseled features.

"Blame the shoes," Angelys shot back gesturing to her pointy red heels.

Franco opened the car door for her. "Good thing you don't need them for this."

Moments later, they were cruising through the quiet roads of Monte Carlo, the city shrinking behind them. The drive was peaceful, comfortable silence filling the air between them. He didn't say where they were going, and she didn't ask.

Eventually, they stopped at a secluded cliff, overlooking the entire city of Monte Carlo. The view was breathtaking, the moonlight painting silver streaks on the water's surface.

"This," Franco spoke softly. "Is where I come to think. Away from it all."

Angelys wrapped her arms around herself, the cold breeze sending a shiver down her spine. "You're full of surprises aren't you?"

He shrugged, his expression growing more serious. "Racing, the spotlight, the parties—it's all just noise. Sometimes I need to remember who I am under all of that."

She understood his words better than she would like to admit. They stood in silence, admiring all the glowing stars in the night sky. The world seemed to slow down around them.

"You said something earlier," she began, her voice soft with empathy. "About wanting something real. Do you really think that's possible, in worlds like ours?"

Franco turned to her, his face barely visible in the dim light. "Honestly, it's pretty rare. But when you find it...you don't let go."

Angelyses eyes widened, her mouth slightly agape at his bold words. For a moment, all the noise, fame and expectations faded away, leaving them only with each other. She looked up at Franco and realised that she wasn't sure if she was falling for him, but she was sure that he understood her.

"I'm scared of this Franco." she admitted, her voice barely a whisper.

"So am I Angelys," he replied, a hint of vulnerability visible in his voice. "But maybe the fear means that it's worth it."

As the bustling noise of the city calmed down, leaving the calm and quiet starry night to peace, Franco and Angelys stood in the silence. Between them lingered something unspoken yet calming, they both felt the connection that tied them together.
