Another day of hell. You don't know who I'm talking about, but she drives me insane. Always striding around camp with that confident glow. That long and curly brown hair that flows all the way to the small of her back. That camp t-shirt that she cut into a halter top since it's the middle of June. Those rolled denim shorts that cover half her thigh. Her whole fucking aura drives me up the wall. She walks with pride, especially when she knows I'm around. And, oh, how she hates my guts.

"Eden, do you know how much you make my blood boil? She asks, in a gravelly tone. She stares at me, her gray eyes threatening to reap my immortal soul. As a daughter of Athena, you'd figure her eyes were only full of knowledge. But it turns out they were also full of animosity. Oh, yeah, Athena is also a war goddess. It adds up, I suppose; her cleverness equivalent to the prominence of her smart-ass mouth.

"Odette, I swear, one more word, and the next time you wind up in the infirmary, I'm putting ghost pepper juice on your bandages." I said, annoyed but also entertained.

"Ha, go ahead, Sparkles. Your brother will end you for tampering with his first aid supplies."

"Okay, then, I'll read your mind. Every. Little. Detail. My dad is Apollo, remember? His cousin is Hecate. I can see every single thought of yours, and have it in the palm of my hand. Seriously, Brains, do better."

She still had the smug look on her face. But, unfortunately for her, it failed to match the look in her icy eyes. The next thing she said might have been the dumbest to ever pass her wise-ass lips.

"Do it. I dare you." (-O)

     "Okay. Hands." (-E)

     "What? wait-" (-O)

"You said to do it. Now give me your hands, Odette." (-E)

She blushed. Actually blushed. It excited me.

She reluctantly lent me her hands. They were smaller than mine, paler, and scarred, from all the quests she had been on. There was a single silver ring on her left middle finger that was adorned with an emerald stone.

I took them gently and rubbed my thumbs against her knuckles. I closed my eyes and smiled to myself, knowing she would be able to see what I saw. Boy, did I see it all.

She wasn't a liar. Her blood really did boil for me. But, in companionship with those boiling cells came some very interesting thoughts.

When I opened my eyes, I grinned down at her five foot five frame. She was fuming.

     "I HATE YOU, EDEN MASON!"

"I hate you more, Odette." I said, forcing back a laugh. It was sweet, really. All those pretty thoughts being about me. The rage, the admiration, the self-doubt. But there was a hint of sadness that tinged my heart. I'll address that later.

We proceeded to have an argument over who hates each other more right in the middle of the field. No one really cared, though. One full minute later and she finally gave way.

"Oh, shut the hell up!" She said angrily, pulling me in by my collar. Within a second I felt the heat of her lips on mine. peppermint chapstick I thought. I only savored a moment when I thought to push her away. We stared at each other for a moment. It felt like forever. Was there gold in her irises?

"Is your cabin empty, Sparkles? All of my siblings are in mine reading and inventing, as usual." (-O)

"My cabin is very empty. Mine are all out tanning or playing to the nymphs. Why?" (-E)
