Hi hi! Vanilla here, before you read, if you have any opinions on this for when you're done; please tell me! Either comment on this story, comment on the twitter post I'll make to announce the release of this story, or shoot a DM request! All are valid <3
If there is enough positive reception for this fic, I may just make more parts to it! Some of this test chapter would be retconned if this happened however, the ending being one of those things.. so be sure to voice your thoughts!
Now enough of me waffling, enjoy the story! x3
24th October 2034, it had been days since Bluey had suddenly disappeared off the face of the earth, she had been classified as dead, but the doctors at the Princess Alexandria Hospital weren't giving up on her body despite the low odds of reviving her.. everybody that Bluey knew wasn't taking her passing too well, her little sister Bingo locked herself in her room 24/7, the bright and energetic Muffin's energy had been slashed, poor Socks was more introverted than ever, too sad to even say a word, and Bluey's parents.. Bandit and Chilli lost a lot of sleep, thinking about how their sweet little teen was just.. gone. Nobody knew how she passed away, no bruises, cuts, or signs of pain were on her body, it was like a heart attack, or an organ failure, and even after her body was in the hospital for the past few days; not even the doctors could figure it out.
Bluey's friends took the loss pretty hard as well, maybe not as hard as her family, but still pretty hard nonetheless.. Coco's bright and fluffed out fur looked dull and draped down due to tears she shed, Indy's clothes had a bunch of tear marks etched into the fabric, Chloe burst into tears every time she saw a tennis ball, that one reminder of a great playtime she had with Bluey all those years ago in Glasshouse Primary School. But there was one person who took it the hardest out of all her friends.. Mackenzie.
Mackenzie was always an energetic and outgoing boy, and even in the teen years; that didn't change, not one bit! Usually growing into a teen would strip away some of the energetic or kind aspects of a person, but not Mackenzie! However, that didn't matter when the closest person in his life was gone. Mackenzie would stay up late at night scrolling through texts he had with Bluey, looking over all the times they said good morning, good night, i love you.. their bond was almost familial, the two friends showed no hesitation to openly express their platonic love even if they got mistaken as a couple sometimes! But on the 3rd night of Bluey's passing, something.. odd and magical happened.
Mackenzie, as usual, was in his room, having skipped school with permission from his mother due to how low and heavy he felt both physically and emotionally, the loss of Bluey hit him like a 12 gauge to the chest, tearing his strong body apart and making the poor boy so vulnerable.. Mackenzie was scrolling through texts yet again, silently crying as he kept reading, feeling those tears slide down his cheeks and stain the fur on his face, but.. that feeling subsides quick when he felt this odd chill flood the room, something wasn't right.
The border collie got up from his bed, sniffling and wiping his eyes with his elbow to get rid of the tears so that he could see clearly.. his vision was still a bit of a haze, but he didn't find it distracting. Mackenzie walked over to the radiator in his room, gently leaning down and hovering his hand over it and feeling the heat gently wash over his furry digits, it was working perfectly, so.. why did he feel so cold? Mackenzie shivered as he straightened himself back up, but as he did, he could have sworn he seen Bluey there in his room, but.. how? Mackenzie looked in front of him again, but nobody was there, was he seeing things?
"H-Hello..?" Mackenzie spoke up, his voice a little hoarse and frail due to how emotional he felt right now, his tail slowly drooped down until it hung between his legs, out of fear.. but something happened that he couldn't have ever expected.. a response.
