She breathed in and out, then opened the door. The wind blew in, taking my breath away just for a moment. We started heading for Jake's house. The wind biting my cheeks. It was just about a thirty second walk.
"Okay, hide." She went to knock on his bright res door, which I remembered so well. I mean I was here over a million times. I remembered every detail about his house.
"HIDE!" She yells.
" Oh. Right!" I look around, but I couldn't find a bush to hide in.
" Kate! There no where to hide." Kate ignores me, and rings the doorbell.
"KATE!" I frantically look around.
"Hide behind a flower or something."
I search around, and see the old tree house that Jake had. It was my only choice.
"Ugh!" I start to climb the tree house, they had.
"Delilah climb quicker!" Kate's voice came from below.
"Sorry m'am but my chubby legs won't let me!" I finally take the last steps, and push myself in. I breath relief. A couple moments later I hear Jake's voice.
"Kate? What do you want?"
"Uh, we need to talk." Kate's voice sounded shaky
I looked around the tree house. It had so many memories. When me and Jake would sneak out and met in his tree house. Me and him also craved our names in it. Were children in love. Well at least I was.
"About what?" Jake's voice made my heart beat faster. It was so raspy, and calming, and just plain beautiful.
"Your tree house has a couple of loose boards, you should go up there and check them out."
"How would you know that?"
"Listen, you go up there. Now." Kate's stern voice scared me.
"Whatever,"
"NOW! You fucking asshole!"Kate's vocabulary was pretty hard to predict.
"Fine i'll go. Gosh." I heard many footsteps. I started to freak out. I wanted to jump out the window, but i'll probably fall to my death.
"Delilah?" My hear felt delighted by, hearing my name.
"Jake?" I stand up, but hit my head on the ceiling.
"Ow." I rub my head, I see Jake trying not to laugh at my awkwardness. I giggle at my awkward moves as well.
"What are you doing here?" His eyes were looking everywhere but me.
"We need to talk." I sit down criss-cross applesauce. I folded my hands together, and waited for him to do the same.
"We already did." He started to climb back down, but I crawled to him.
"Please, it isn't about dating again. Its about some questions in the past.Please." I stare at him. His eyes were so sincere, they looked beautiful.
"You have no more than eight minutes." He slowly climbs back and sits at the rug, that me and him used to sit when we were dating.
" Nothing changed, well around the treehouse anyways." I looked at the decorating me and him did. All the artwork we hanged. All the pictures of me and his little sister, and of me and him.
"Yup. Now ask me." He seemed in a hurry to leave.
"Well, I have one question."
"I have one two."
"You go first." We both say. He smiles that smile I fell in love with.
"Okay you go." We say at the same time too. We both giggle, it was like the old days.
"Okay I'll go." We say the same exact thing again.
"Okay at the same time." I say. I count to three on my fingers.
"Did you ever love me?" It was really surprising that Jake said the exact thing again. But this time we weren't smiling.
"Did you? You answer first." Jake's voice some what made me feel comfortable.
"Okay. Honest? Yes, yes I did. I loved you with everything I had. Everything. I still love you till this day." I saw Jake blush. It was adorable, I just wanted to kiss him. But I couldn't.
"Did you? Did you ever love me? How did you forget all the memories! How in the world! The only reason I could ever think of is, you never loved me." I feel my face turn red.
"You wanna know how? I forgot that you existed. I blocked you out of my world. Am I completely over you? No! I can't be. But its better to pretend I never knew you, than to pretend it doesn't kill me when I see you walking happily everyday, when I'm here hurting." His face turned red when he finished.
"Answer my question."
"Yes I did love you. I loved you with all I had, when we broke up, my wold shattered. You can't even imagine the pain. You also know what kills me? Seeing that our break up didn't faze you at all. You kept living like normal."
"Do you still love me?"
"I never stopped." With those words he climbed out of the tree house. Leaving me with no closure at all, and no idea what to do next.
