Start from the beginning

──── It was Emmeline Pankhurst, but... Yes, that was me.

──── How did I not remember that? - Cairo intervened, laughing slightly as she remembered that performance.

──── That explains it, I kept wondering why Florence Nightingale chained herself to the gymnastics machines.

──── Yeah... That didn't go according to plan. It took a couple of hours to get me out of there.

Ravi gave a smile similar to that of the youngest girl next to him, and then everything seemed normal and the three of them continued their walk.

In the back of her mind, Cairo could already imagine where it would all end. It didn't seem normal that the girl who knocked on her door a week ago should mysteriously take the same route home as you. She kept quiet the whole way, laughing when she had to and keeping her eyes on the golden retriever on a leash.

Ravi fell for it like a duckling, tasting the muffins and chatting about everything with Pip, from movies to the boy showing off his incredible taste ability by recognizing the type of blueberries used by the brunette.

For a few more minutes, paying attention, Singh really didn't think any of it had anything to do with her brother, with what happened five years ago and how Sal was a murderer. Hearing the same things since she was 11 was really tiring, she was starting to get used to it and it only made everything worse.

──── Well... I actually need your help with my EPQ... - Amobi's voice snapped Cairo back to reality.  ──── So that would be like bribe muffins.

  ──── Pippa...

──── Your what? - Ravi asked.

──── I don't know if you've seen this, it's Extension Project Qualification, it's a job we do independently along with the advanced classes. It helps with college applications, so I could do something about feminism or social issues, but then I thought: “What really matters to my city?”. That's when I thought about the case of Andie Bell and... your brother.

The brunette was torn between the two, quickly shifting her gaze between them. She moved a little closer, making a wall between the two, keeping her eyes on Pippa.

──── I don't think it's a good idea to talk about it now...

──── And I think you should leave, my brother is dead already, can you let this matter die too?! - The older boy retorted, returning the rest of the muffin in his hand and entering his house before hearing any reply.

Silence fell, and unlike what she had expected, Singh stood there with her head down. The brunette was kicking loose pebbles down the street, their dragging on the asphalt the only sound there.

It took the shorter one a while before she actually took courage and raised her head, biting her lip.

──── I told you it was a bad idea, you could have left it behind and chosen feminism or social issues.

──── It's not that easy, and I'm not giving up.

──── You really are stubborn, Pippa Fitz-Amobi - She whispered almost like a grumble.  ──── Come back on Friday, I'll convince him by then.

  ──── What?

──── You heard me, I'm going to talk to Ravi, really talk this time. I'm not against you, Pip, I just think you're a bit crazy.

Shrugging, Cairo walked to the door of her house.

──── On Friday?! - She tried to confirm the blue-eyed one.
