Haseena slowly made her way to the hall, her head still heavy from the events of the night before. As she entered, she immediately sensed the tension in the room. All the family members were gathered there, waiting for her to wake up. Karishma stood in the center, trying to explain herself to Ammi, her voice filled with a mix of guilt and apology.
"Sorry, Ammi, hamne thoda sa masti socha par galti se usne zyada pee li," Karishma said, her face showing concern.
Meera, standing quietly by the side, was clearly uncomfortable. Haseena noticed that it must have been her plan, but Karishma had taken the entire blame on herself, shielding Meera from any consequences.
Anvi, ever the energetic one, suddenly piped up, her eyes lighting up as soon as she saw Haseena. "Di aa gayi!" she announced loudly, causing everyone to turn towards Haseena.
Ammi, her expression softening with motherly concern, immediately rushed to her. She cupped Haseena's face in her hands, her voice filled with worry. "Meri bacchi... kaisi hai tu?"
Haseena managed a weak smile, trying to reassure her. "Ammi, ham bilkul theek hai, aap chinta mat kijiye. Aur Karishma ki isme koi galti nahi hai," she said, her eyes briefly meeting Karishma's across the room.
Before she could say anything else, Anvi jumped in again, her mischievous grin spreading across her face. "Achha, ab pata chala itne dino se ghar ke bahar kya gul khila rahi thi," she teased, her words clearly meant in jest, but they left Haseena momentarily stunned.
What was she implying? Haseena's mind raced for a second, trying to figure out if there was something deeper behind Anvi's words, but before she could react, Ammi pulled Anvi's ear, scolding her playfully.
"Badmaas bacchi... hamesha Haseena ko pareshan karke rakha hai," Ammi said, her voice filled with warmth as she tried to diffuse the tension.
Haseena couldn't help but smile at the scene. It felt strangely comforting, despite the weight of everything that had happened last night. Seeing her family together like this, teasing her in their usual way, made her feel a bit lighter. But she also knew that something had shifted, and it would take time to fully understand how much had changed between her and Karishma. For now, though, she let herself enjoy the familiar warmth of home.
Ammi, with a warm smile, introduced Meera to Haseena. "Ye hai Meera... Karishma ki dost, jo uske sath rehti hai. Jab ye yaha aayi thi, toh iske paas paise nahi the, toh Meera ne iska sath diya. Bahut hi chulbuli ladki hai... tumhari Karishma ko bahut tang karti hai."
Haseena gave a polite nod, but something stirred within her. She hadn't met Meera before, and she could feel a pang of jealousy forming, although she tried to push it aside. Karishma, noticing the tension, interjected with a playful grin.
"Ammi, aapne iska adha introduction diya hai, hum pura dete hain." Karishma turned towards Haseena, her voice light but sincere. "Ye hai Meera, urf mera sir dard. Harkatein proper khadoos saas jaisi – 'Ye kapde kyu pehne hain, 7 baje se pehle wapas aa jana, sabji me namak kyu dala, aur kisi ladki se baat kaise ki tumne?' Ye kyu kiya, kyu nahi kiya—whatever! Itna tamasha toh ek saas bhi nahi karti!" Karishma's tone was teasing, but her eyes flickered with something deeper. "Pata hai, iski harkatein mujhe har pal tumhari yaad dilati hain... tumhari tarah vo bina baat ke ladna, tantrums dikhana, care karna... sab kuch."
As Karishma's words sank in, Haseena felt a strange blend of emotions. At first, the jealousy intensified, but as Karishma continued, Haseena realized how unfounded her doubts had been. Karishma had never replaced her – if anything, her bond with Meera had formed because Meera reminded her of Haseena. She wasn't just a new friend; she was a reflection of what Karishma missed in Haseena's absence.
