"This key..." Shadow began, turning it over in his hand, "it could free you. You could leave, right now."
Sonic's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "What's the catch?"
Shadow's smirk deepened. "All you have to do is ask me to release you. Beg me."
Sonic's blood ran cold. He gritted his teeth, his eyes blazing with indignation. "You know that's not happening."
Shadow chuckled darkly, pacing slowly around Sonic again. "You see? That's your problem, Sonic. You're too proud. Too stubborn. Always acting like you're invincible, like no one can touch you. But here..." Shadow leaned in, his breath hot against Sonic's ear. "Here, you're vulnerable."
Sonic's heart raced, but he didn't dare let his fear show. "If you think this is going to break me, you don't know me at all."
Shadow's eyes darkened. "I don't want to break you, Sonic. I want you to submit."
The words hung in the air, thick with meaning. Sonic's chest tightened, his mind reeling from the implications. This wasn't just a game to Shadow. It was something twisted, something possessive.
Shadow moved closer again, his gloved fingers trailing lightly across Sonic's restrained arms, sending an involuntary shiver through Sonic's body. There was an intimacy in the gesture, a control that unsettled Sonic to his core.
"You've always been the hero," Shadow said softly, almost seductively. "The one everyone looks up to. But what happens when the hero is powerless? What happens when the one person who can match him decides he doesn't want to fight anymore? When he wants something more..."
Sonic swallowed hard, trying to keep his voice steady. "I'll never give you what you want."
Shadow's smile widened, but it didn't reach his eyes. "We'll see."
He turned away, heading toward the door, leaving Sonic alone once again in the suffocating quiet. The door clicked shut behind him, leaving Sonic to the darkness.
Hours passed. Maybe longer. The room felt colder now, and Sonic's mind raced, replaying every word, every gesture. He had faced danger before—countless times. He had been captured by enemies, faced off against Eggman's worst, but this? This was different. This was Shadow. Someone he thought he understood. Someone he thought he could trust, even in the worst of times.
But now, bound and trapped, Sonic realized how little he had truly known about Shadow's desires.
---
The next time Shadow returned, he was holding something in his hands—a small glass of water. He approached slowly, as if savoring every moment of Sonic's helplessness.
Sonic's throat was dry, but he didn't speak. He wouldn't give Shadow the satisfaction.
Shadow knelt in front of him again, holding the glass up to Sonic's lips. "Drink."
Sonic hesitated, his pride warring with the very real thirst that gnawed at him. But ultimately, he opened his mouth, allowing Shadow to tilt the glass and let the water trickle down his throat. It was humiliating, the way Shadow controlled even this basic need.
Once Sonic had finished, Shadow set the glass aside, his gaze lingering on Sonic's face, studying him. "You look so different like this."
Sonic's brow furrowed. "Like what?"
"Vulnerable," Shadow whispered, his voice dark, almost reverent. "It suits you."
Sonic's fists clenched, his anger bubbling to the surface. "You're sick, Shadow."
But instead of being angered, Shadow merely smiled, his eyes burning with an unsettling intensity. "I'm not sick, Sonic. I just see things clearly now."
He leaned closer, his breath brushing against Sonic's ear. "I've always been chasing you. Trying to keep up with your speed, your charm, your light. But here, you can't run anymore. Here, you're mine."
Sonic jerked away, his heart hammering in his chest. He could feel the weight of Shadow's obsession, the twisted affection that dripped from every word.
Shadow's hand moved to Sonic's face again, this time gentler, almost tender. "You'll come to see it my way, Sonic. You'll learn to stop fighting."
Sonic's voice was barely a whisper, his resolve wavering. "I'll never stop fighting."
Shadow's eyes softened, but the darkness in his smile remained. "You will."
And as the door closed behind Shadow once more, leaving Sonic in the oppressive silence, the weight of those words pressed down on him.
Because deep down, Sonic knew Shadow wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted.
