Chapter Five |Parents|

AVERY

*beep beep, beep beep, beep beep, beep beep*

My alarm goes off as I reach to turn it off. I looked at the time to see 3:47 pm. I always set my alarm to a different time on Fridays so I could wake up on the time schools over. I thought about doing it for every school day, but my parents would catch on to my excuse for not hearing the alarm. Each morning on Fridays my parents are never home until 5:00 afternoon. My mom works at a bank and my dad is a doctor, so somehow their always busy. We live in a big house, but I don't think we need all this space just for the three of us. Maybe that's why I'm always angry cause this house is so boring when no ones in it but me.

I get up to take a shower when my phone starts to ring. It was my dad, so I answered it

" Hello " I say yawning afterwards then quickly covering my mouth

" Ave-, did you just wake up or something? " he asks

" No I just had a long day " I lie walking over to my dresser to find something to wear

" Oh well I was calling to tell you to dress presentable, because my boss invited me to have dinner with his family " he says

" What does that have to do with me!? I don't work for him, you do " I say rolling my eyes. I really don't want to start my Friday afternoon like this.

" Listen to me little girl, you're not 18 yet, so what I say goes. Your lucky enough I even brought you a car the way you've been acting " he says. A car he won't even let me drive until I'm 18!

" Okay dad is that it? " I say really close to hanging up on him.

" Yes, and please do as I ask. I'm counting on you baby girl " he says. I just roll my eyes while hanging up. Hate when he says that

After I got out the shower I threw some sweatpants on and a tank top on. I grabbed my phone off the charger then headed downstairs

I went straight to the kitchen for some snacks. I grabbed a 'fruit roll up' then made my way to the living room. I turned the tv on with some random show popping up when my phone signaled I had a text from someone. I picked my phone up to see it was from Kiron

" Hey punk " It read. I rolled my eyes and tossed it somewhere on the couch. It seems that every time we argue we find a way to stop being mad at each other. We talked about what happened in class yesterday and we're over that, but this time I'm upset because I saw that he went to school today and we never go on Fridays. Well at least try not to.

My phone then lit up showing another text from Kiron. This time it said " I see you trying to avoid me since I went to school today. And you better stop throwing yo phone around before it break " 

That's when I hop up and start looking around. How in the world did he know that. Then out of nowhere my phone starts ringing really loud scaring me. It was him calling

" Kiron! What the hell! " I yell through the phone

" What I do? " he chuckles

" How did you know all that stuff! "

" Oh your talking about the texts I just sent you? "

" Yes! " I say getting goosebumps

" Right, I knew you were avoiding me, because last time I did this on a Friday you wouldn't talk to me for a whole day, then about you throwing your phone, well.. you always throw your phone around when your mad, so I was assuming that's what you were doing since you didn't respond back " he says explaining it all. For a second I thought he was stalking me

" Wow remind me why I ever wanted to be your friend " I say sarcastically but hung up at the same time. That's what he get for scaring me. I put my phone down to look up at the tv

" Avery I'm home! " my moms voice feel my ears

" Bout time " I say walking over to her

" Avery why aren't you dressed? " she says sounding exhausted

" What are you talking about? I have on clothes see " I say tugging on my shirt

" Avery you know that's not what I mean, if your father sees you he'll be upset " she says taking her shoes off while going to the kitchen. Seconds later my dad walks in and approaches me

" Hey pumpkin " he says kissing my forehead then heads to the kitchen.I follow

" Hi love " he says kissing my mom passionately. Someone's excited

" Dad what's wrong with you? " I say hopping on the counter

" Honey guess what today at my job I asked all the other employees if David had a serious conversation with them about the job then inviting them to dinner after and everyone said NO! could you believe that? " he was way to hype ignoring my question

" Wow you think you special now " I start laughing

" You, get out of here and get dressed! " he demands I killed his whole vibe. I bet my mom doesn't care either.

" Avery lets go! " my dad yells

" Okay, Okay, stop rushing me "  I had to make sure I didn't have mascara in my eye. I tried my hardest getting downstairs almost breaking my neck cause these stupid heels my mom made me put on. She also brought me this beautiful dress I don't know why cause Its gonna get ruined

" You took forever, but I see where you get your beauty  from " he says looking over at my mom. I straighten my hair that fell all the way down to my back. The color I had on was violet.

" Okay ladies lets go " he says as we all head outside inside the car

" Avery you look so great honey. I bet that guy is gonna like it "  My mom whispers at the end as my dad pull out the parking lot

" huh? What guy?! " I whisper back raising my eyebrow

" I thought your father told you " she says not whispering anyone

" Thought I told her what? " he says still focused on the road

" That David had a son " she says

" It's not even his son it's his wife's " he says

" And plus he said he has a nasty attitude sometimes "

" Well I guess you two would get along just fine " she chuckles

" Haha, all I know is he better not get on my nerves " I say taking out my phone.

" Chris! " my mom calls to me

" Yes, ma " I say very aggravated that she was making me stay for this dinner thing

" let me see your tie " she says walking over to me to fix my tie. They made me wear a damn tux like we going to a fancy restaurant or something. I swear when I'm 18 I'm moving out asap  

" There, better " she says kissing my cheek as the door bell rings

" I'll get it! " David yells as I give her a fake smile

" Alright got sit down while I get the rest of the food " she says walking in the kitchen

I take a seat like she said then start eating some of the food she had already put on the table even though I wasn't supposed too. I could hear David greetings the family as they walk in to where I was sitting at the table. I look up then nearly choke on my food when I saw who it was
