5th grade (late May)

"Lex c'mon she is waiting!!!!" My best friend Adriana said.
"W-wait Ana you're dragging me!"  Ana dragged me from the gym doors to the playground not saying anything making me nervous. We headed down to this little bench around the swings and she sat me down, i start to look around having no idea whats going on until my eyes land on her.

Billie, we have been friends since 1st grade but the older I got she started to make me feel a certain way that no one else could, the way she held eye contact with me would make me choke on my own words. But I wasn't the only one who felt this way about Billie, unfortunately almost every boy in our grade has a crush on her and every girl wanted to look just like her, who could blame them though, she was the prettiest girl in the school, good in every single sport known to man kind, and let's not forget very popular.
Me on the other hand I am definitely not the prettiest girl, i do have a lot of friends but that's only because of Ana, we met while playing softball in the city's little league and the rest is pretty much history, she even moved closer this past year so we could go to the same middle school together. I know the best.

Back to our little situation, Billie comes around the bench and takes a seat next to me and smiles, " hey lex" i turn my head and smile arises from my mouth "hey Bil, What's up?" i start to turn my head back to Ana who is just standing there with a huge grin on her face, concern spreads across my face not knowing whats coming starts to make my palms sweat. I turn my head back to Billie who opens her mouth to talk

"so um, what did you want for your birthday?" My face goes pink cause who would've thought Billie of all people would've wanted to come to my birthday party, for some context last week my mom gave me invitations to hand out at school for my birthday party at some trampoline park, remember when I said i had a lot of friends, well that didn't mean i wanted to invite all of them to my party, mainly because I wasn't really social like Ana but they were only cool with me because of Ana so im hoping you catch my drift , well my teacher had a no one left out rule so when i handed them out it had to be everyone or no one, ok so now you understand back to the regularly scheduled program :)  " u-um I uh I mean whatever is fine but i really like butterflies if that helps?" Billie stands up and smiles at me " ok, perfect i have an idea, well i better get back the boys are waiting on me to finish the soccer game" i smile and nod "ok, bye Billie" " see ya lex" she says and jogs away to the field, i turn my head back at Ana in complete shock. " Dude?! Wha- i don- when di- SHE IS COMING TO MY PARTY?" Ana puts her hand over my mouth and shush's me " Lex keep it down!" " sorry sorry its just like why, i mean I wanted her there but now im scared" Ana chuckles at me and says" bro don't blow this out the window you have to be chill" "yeah you're right ok I'm calm i swear" nodding my head ,

The bell begins to ring signaling all of the kids to head inside back into the gym to get ready for lunch.

CURRENT DAY

Freshman year of college

Lexi's POV

" I don't know how you can eat that, doesn't it get all watery and soggy cause of the juice"
" whatever dude, pineapple is the best thing you could put on a pizza!" Ana says while stuffing her face with pizza

We are having a sleepover at my house tonight, my mom is out of town and I finally had alone time so what better than to spend it with Ana, life's been hard recently, college is new, hard but new, dating life is in the trash. Garbage. And it had been awhile since I had last seen Ana, she is the one person who has been through it all with me. Parents divorce, she was there, heartbreak she was there, one direction breaking up she was there, having a mental crisis she was there, crying so hard I couldn't breathe, she was still there, I honestly don't know how she does it.

Anyways the plan was to do all these cute little trends we've been sending each other but nothing ever goes to according to the plan around here so we ordered a pizza and put on a scary movie, i decided to set up the movie room with little lights and blankets because i knew we'd eventually dose off in there.

We are currently watching SpongeBob, i have no idea why i thought a scary movie was a good idea, i am on the verge of shitting my pants, and Ana got so scared she started crying, I can't even begin to explain why we did this to ourselves, Ana and I ended up moving to this huge bean bag, i laid down first and Ana followed, her upper half landing on top of me, i pulled the blanket over us and turned up the tv just a little.

I felt my pocket buzz about 20 minutes later, so I moved my hand from Ana's hair and grabbed my phone to see a message from my Tia (aunt) Jennifer

Hi Mija, as you know my birthday is coming up and i sent an
                        Invitation to you mom already but I wanted to let you know
                        so you can invite Ana! I'm gonna have something small at
                        my house next Saturday @6pm. Sorry for texting so late!

I turned off my phone and tossed it on the floor, watched some more tv before closing my eyes and drifting off to sleep.
