I woke up feeling sluggish and turned to the clock. It was 12:30am. I’d just rolled back over when it finally sunk in. I’d overslept. I jumped out the bed and walked across the hall to my mom’s room. I opened it slightly to see that she was sleep. Well, I guess that’s a good way to avoid a confrontation. I closed her room door and went downstairs.

I was starving considering that I slept through dinner. I opened the fridge hoping that this time there would be something in there. I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw that she’d brought home Chinese takeout. It was chicken fried rice with a side of pot stickers, my favorite.

I grabbed the food and put it in the microwave. I leaned against the counter just looking around my house. We had a really nice house. It had an open floor plan. The front door led into the living room, which was attached to the dining room. The living room was painted Victory Red and we have brown leather furniture and accents. Our dining room was painted Pixley Falls Green. I’d say it was Olive but that was the name on the paint can. My mom just had our antique walnut table and buffet set restored. Now it’s absolutely gorgeous. The dining room opens to the kitchen which has an island, and a breakfast nook. The kitchen cabinets are stained a warm chestnut color. The walls were Grand Stand Tan, with a beautiful brown and gold glass back splash. I helped my mom pick it all out. The living room led to a hallway that had a half bathroom and the laundry room. The door at the end of the hallway leads to the basement.

The steps that led upstairs were at the beginning of the hallway and we had three bedrooms and three bathrooms on the second floor. There was a bathroom in my room, a bathroom in the hallway, and my mom had her own bathroom, too. The third bedroom is used as an exercise and storage room. It was supposed to be for another baby, but my mom never got around to that. Sometimes I wished that I had sibling, especially at times like these. It would be nice to have someone else to talk to.

I took the food out the microwave and went to sit on the couch in the living room to watch some TV. There was nothing on at twelve in the morning. I flipped through the channels before giving up on a weight loss infomercial, and started eating. My mom and I usually sat on the couch eating Chinese and talking about our day. I was bummed that I’d missed it.

I finished my food, threw away the carton, and went upstairs. I grabbed some pajamas from my dresser and went to take a shower. It was supposed to be a quick 15 minute shower, but the hot water just felt too good. The smell of my body wash and shampoo was intoxicating. It was berry splash, my favorite scent. I ended up taking a full shower and washing my hair.

Finished in the bathroom, I threw my clothes in the hamper in the corner of my room. I loved my room. It was such a reflection of me. Not too messy, not too clean. Ash and I painted it Canary’s Song yellow with a light Bay City blue streak going around the entire room. My bed linen was light blue, with yellow checkered pillows. I just love yellow and blue. My walls are filled with posters of different bands. I have Paramore, Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, Muse, the list goes on.

I went to sit on the floor. I grabbed my book bag and got out my French book. Mr. Thomas was the most boring language teacher ever. If I didn’t like French so much I would fall asleep in his class. It was simple and since I was in advanced French, I finished it within ten minutes. I closed the book and put it away. Now, I didn’t have any more homework for the rest of the weekend. I glanced at the clock. It was just 1:45am. Time was going so slow.
