Ray was neglected by her own parents. She suffers different types of problems even as a child..Do you think Ray would survive? Let's check out in this trilling story.
"You better leave me alone o, good for nothing man. What do you think you can offer to this family, ehn?" My mum barked. I was in my room that night, I was really trying hard not to listen to whatever my mum was pouring out on my dad, I just wanted to sleep, by the way, I didn't know what caused the quarrel. I am the first daughter and the second child of my family. My parents gave birth to three namely Ryan, Duella and I. Ryan is my elder brother who is currently in his third year in the university of Lagos State popularly known as Unilag. Duella is a girl and the last child. She is in her junior secondary school three. My parents had always had misunderstandings even before the birth of my elder brother. Even as a child I heard them shout at themselves at any slight mistake. It was something they did everyday especially on Sundays after service. As a young child, my parents were usually very busy, they never had enough time for us. My mum's case was even the worst, she never cared, like it was not her business. She brought in two house helps. This is one of the problems I encountered as a child. One of the house helps named Amaka didn't like me and then she won't let me be, she always beat me blue black before any of my parents would return. As a child who got used to being quiet, I would not let any of my parents know, I would just be upstairs in my room crying. Even if I wanted to tell them, they usually came back whenever I was sleeping. But one faithful day, my mum came back early from work, I asked why but she gave me no reasonable answer. I decided to report what Amaka has always done to me. I didn't know where that courage was coming from but I was like "Ehm...mum, there's something I'll like to tell you", I stammered. "Do that fast and leave please", she said not even looking at me. She was filling her fingers. At this point, I started boiling, even though I knew that my mum and I never went one way but how can it be, she must listen to me today, I said to myself quietly. "Mum it's about Amaka", I blurted "Ehen, what about her, what good does she stand to offer me this afternoon", she barked. At that point, I couldn't hold myself anymore, I just needed to pour out everything. "Mum, what's wrong with you sef, I'm trying to tell you what I'm passing through in this hi house and you are here just shouting. Why can't you give me listening ears, why?" I said admist tears. She just looked at me with widened eyes. I could read plainly what were written on those pair of eyes. It read hate and her words confirmed that. "Simply because I don't like you Ray, I do not! Now leave my room, leave!" She pointed at the door and I left with a mixed feeling of pain and guilt. I didn't know how she will hate her own daughter, though this was not the first time she was saying this but I felt bad. What caused my pain that day was that I went to school as a Nursery 3 pupil and then in class, my friends were discussing about how their mum usually took them shopping, to the park and even bought them various gifts on their birthdays. But for me, none of these have ever happened to me. I felt so pained so I needed to talk to her, that's what brought about that ugly incidence. After that incidence, I stopped disturbing her about my condition I just let it be because she gave me a dosage of her wickedness. I wondered why I was the only one this was done to, there was no Dad to tell because he traveled. I was separated from the school Ryan and Duella attended, I was sent to a different school because of my mum's hatred towards me. Soon she sent Amaka and the other girl home because they stole her money. I was even surprised how she didn't blame me for stealing the money.
