Fulfilled Promise

Chapter1: New Beginnings

-sound of running water-

-water pipe closes-

-changes then turns on tv-

"Koaru Matsubara, after many successful concerts, has decided to take it easy and go back to her homeland."

-changes channel-

"Mr. Mayor, is it true that THE Koaru Matsubara is coming back to Tokyo?" said a reporter.

"Yes, but we must treat her like a normal teenage girl," said the Mayor,"Anyone who disobeys this will be punished. She is finally coming to settle down and the last thing we need is reporters interrogating her."

"Oh no. It's time to get going," said a familiar voice and rushed out the door.

He grabbed his skateboard, backpack and mp3 player and rushed out the door.

Butch was skateboarding to school. He put his headphones on and started listening to music at the same time. It was Skater Boy by Koaru Matsubara. It's been twelve years since they separated. He didnt forget her, but did forget her real name since he used to call her 'Buttercup'.

Butch was 15 years old now and was going to Villa's High School. He arrived at school with everyone buzzing about the big news, even starting a rumor.

Butch's P.O.V.

"Did you guys hear? They say Koaru is going to come to our school," said a girl.

"Really?!" said her friend, all excited like she was ready to jump right out of her shoes.

Seriously, I didnt get them. Ok, she's famous. So what? Aren't we suppose to treat her normally anyway? Geez. The kids here are so ridiculous.

-sound of bell ringing-

Well, time for first period and i don't see any singer. Too bad!

I sat down and waited for our homeroom teacher to walk in and start class. She did walk in, but she was ten minutes late. We greeted her then she gave an announcement.

"Class, we have a new student," she said, smiling as if she just saw a a movie star or something.

"Please come in Ms. Matsubara," she said. Everyone was shocked, but not more shocked than me.

"Hell! Those rumors were true?" I said shocked and maybe a little upset because i was wrong. A girl with light black hair and lime green eyes walked in. She was wearing a long jeans pants with chains hanging from the  pockets, ankle black high-heeled boots, a green shirt with black lightning bolts all over it and a jeans jacket.

"There's an empty seat next to Butch. You can sit there," she said, pointing in my direction.

"K," she said, then flopped down on the seat next to me. I feel like i know her from somewhere.

"We will be having self-study for first period," said the teacher.

Which technically meant no class first period.

-Recess-

Ok, was Koaru staring at me all during morning classes, or is it just me? Anyway ,she's being swarmed with hundreds of her 'adoring fans'. I wonder if she'll even eat lunch. I got my lunch and sat next to Brick, my bud. 

"Hey tweedle dumb. Where's tweedle idiot?" I said.

He glared at me with his red eyes.

"Never mind," I said quickly. Hey, I love my life.

"Excuse me," said a voice behind me. I turned around only to reveal Koaru. It could be my imagination, but she looked inquisitive. Was she interested in me? Never gonna happen.

"Yes," I said, trying to contain myself from freaking out.

Why was she here? What did she want? Why was she staring at me during class? Why am i asking all these questions when at first i was completely NOT interested and DIDN'T care? I was so confused. And starving. All I wanted to do was eat. But she came to talk. So why was she just standing there daydreaming? Then she spoke.

"Sup. My name is-"I cut her off.

"Koaru. Koaru Matsubara," I said, obviously.

"Oh, yeah, you know," she said nervously.

Why was she nervous around a guy like me?

"What's your name?" she asked.

Ok, I can work with this. I wouldn't mind being her friend. Maybe she'll buy me a hot tub. Kidding! I don't roll that way.

"The name's Butch," I said.

She gasped.

"What? What's wrong?"I said worriedly.

"I-It's nothing,"she said.

"Ok," I said. Then at the corner of my eye, I saw Brick staring Koaru up and down.

"Hey, I'm Brick," he said with a smirk. "How 'bout we hang out?"

Ok, he is officially desperate.

"Shut up, Pervert," I said, slapping him upside the head. She burst out laughing. I couldn't help but laugh too.

"Ok, I'll hang out with you guys," she said sitting next to me.

Koaru is really funny. She just kept making us laugh all throughout recess. She's also humble...... I think. I mean, even though she's a star, she doesn't brag about it or act like it . She acts like a normal teenage girl, who's a tomboy. But when we had an arm wrestling contest and I let her beat me she said,

"Oh! In your face Butch! I win, you lose! I can't believe a girl beat you!"

"I let you win," I said sounding full of myself.

"Nuh uh," she said.

"Uh huh."

"Nuh uh."

"Uh huh."

"GUYS!" What classes do you have now?" said Brick, sounding annoyed because he was being completely ignored.

"The HellHouse- MATH!" Koaru said.

"Looks like I'm not gonna suffer alone," I said smirking.

"You want me to kick your butt old man?" she said making a fist.

"No, I'm cool," came my reply.

Hey, I ain't taking chances with HER. Even though I let her win, she is pretty strong. Ok, VERY strong. So we walked to class that day. And the next. And the next. We walked to ALL our classes together now that I think about it. How did we become friends so quickly? And I wasn't the least bit intimidated. I was very comfortable around her, it was like she wasn't even a girl.......

Never tell her I said that.
