Chapter one

her body presses lightly against the wooden door to her bedroom to close it as lightly as possible. she had just got home, her dad sleeping on the couch, her mom at work; she had to be quiet. her long hair, in which, reaches her hips, gets caught in the zipper of her bright pink jacket she wears everyday. "ow-" Oshi's hair strands, maybe two or three, pluck out her head. for a 13 year old girl she is very- well, older looking, to say the least. her phone buzzes in her pocket as she places her bag on the floor.
"hello? Maverick?" the line is quiet till there is a crack then a voice comes through, "OSHI-" Maverick's rambling echos through Yurioshis speaker to her ears, the noise being so loud it might've made her star earrings shake. "Dude shut the fuck up, no need to be so loud- what happened?" there is a pause, than a breath, "idk man im bored wanna meet up with me and jill?" Oshi pauses, looks at her door, than back to her phone, "i want to- my dad is asleep though" "just ask him- text me we will be at the park" "but mavr-" Oshi is cut off as the line drops; before she leaves the only room in this 'house' that actually feels like a home, her room- she slides on her black converse and puts her pink jacket back on.

Yurioshi's hand holds the door, as her other one pulls the nod towards her, opening the door. her door opens to the kitchen, past the counter the couch faces away. Oshi swallows as she walks on her tip toes onto the carpeted floor. A gulp, then she speaks, "d..dad?" Oshi says right above a whisper, she now stands by the tv. "dad?" she says louder than before. "hm!" her dad snaps his head towards her, she had woken him up. "now Yurioshi you KNOW im trying to fucking sleep i got home not even 30 minutes ago. What do you want," "can i" Yurioshi stutters quietly "Speak up." "can i go to the park?" there was a pause of silence, then a scoff, "that js what you woke me up for? are you kidding me?!- whatever just go." "thank you, i love you bye." she waits for a response, without one, she starts to walk to the door. tensed up, her hands still clenched. "Be back by nine, or ten" "okay," she says a monotone voice walking out the door, shutting the medium wooden door is quietly as possible to not make her not even more frustrated and angry than it already had seemed he was.

The black converse splat on the ground as she walks up the road. it had just rained so the grass had been freshly watered, and the sidewalks darkened as the dents and holes of the road fill with water. her fingers wraps up onto her paint covered sleeves, as she hers fast shoes fall on the ground as like someone is running towards her. Maverick is running towards Oshi, as Jill follows behind, just jogging. "MY BEST FRIEND-"Maverick yells as he hugs and picks up Yurioshi. "AH- HAHAHAH STOP MAV PUT ME DOWWNN!!" Yurioshi kicks and squirms against mavericks chest. maverick is tall for a 14 year old, Oshi has known him since they were five. Maverick turns to jill "no offense bro-" Maverick giggles lightly, "pfft idc man im your bro she is your girl best friend-" jill flicks his head back, so his hair moves out his face slightly. Maverick puts Yurioshi down, and turns back to jill. "h-hi" Oshi speaks up slightly, waving to jill. "Hey" Jill waves back, oh his stomach flutters but, Yurioshi is basically like mavericks little sis, just like how he basically raised mixie, he grew up with Oshi. Jill liked her but wouldn't tell, he is only 14 and was too scared to speak his feelings, in case of him getting shunned. After some awkward silence Maverick speaks up, "welll we were gonna go to the park but I wanna go in the forest behind the pawn shop instead?" Maverick points south and looked at Jill and Oshi both. "Yeah I'm chill with that" Oshi smiles as she speaks, her fingers fiddling with her pink sleeve. "Mhm-" Jill nods. Maverick smiles- his usual big goofy smile, "okay! Let's go than!"

Their shoes hit the ground as they walk, the concrete brightens lightly and slowly as the water evaporates. "Ugh- how much longer" "yeah dude, my vans are already fallin' apart!" Jill and Yurioshi complain and whine walking slightly behind maverick. "Oh shut up you babies? You'll know it's worth all the foot pain" maverick says confidently. Sometimes the way maverick talks just makes people laugh you know, lights up the room. That being said, Jill and Yurioshi look at each other, within seconds, they burst out in laughter. "What?" Maverick says with a slight laughter to his voice. "Oh nothing dude you're just, you now keep walking I'm tired," Jill whines as he jogs up behind maverick, pushing on mavericks back, laughing as maverick pushed his weight back onto Jill. They both laugh as Yurioshi giggles just watching. "Okay Mav, go, go, go, my feet hurt toooo-" Oshi jogs closer to the two, helping Jill push on Mavericks back. "Okay! Okay! I'm walking," Mavericks voice cracks higher as he laughs. "Was that a voice crack, mister Maverick?" Oshi says teasing him. "Oh shut up Yurioshi-" maverick turns to them and pushes Yurioshi's head back.
They finished walking to the forest, they push through branches to get to this so called "surprise" that maverick has for the two. Their feet crush leaves as some water leaks into Jill's busted shoes; his parents are lower middle class new things are well, rare to him, so his shoes aren't the best. "Okay we turn here then ya'll see what I've been doing after school," maverick smirks, pointing to the farther right. They push through the last of the green and leaves, to see the old barn house fixed up with cheap dollar store lights and a wooden plank as a makeshift door. "Ta-daa" maverick says shaking his hands like he is showing off the Mona Lisa. "What is it?" Jill asks. "Our new hang out spot for after school- duh?" Maverick answers like Jill is asking if the sky is blue. "I mean it looks cool mav" Yurioshi says with her usual sweet soft smile, which can make a heart flutter. "See Jill? Oshi gets it, I work hard and it's cool," "I was just messing with you man, its cool, let's go in I wanna see!" Jill says making a 'shoo' motion to his hand, laughing slightly.

The old barn was a warm color of light, it felt, well, cozy. "Bean bags? Bro how did you get your dad to get all this," Jill asks as he flops onto a bean bag. Maverick flinches at the mention of his dad, then clears his throat and speaks "well uh he didn't I've been saving sense last summer-" the two pause "Mav it's the end of the school year, w- what do you mean you've saved up all this time?" Yurioshi states. "Uhhh yeah..?" Maverick says with a snarky tone. Yurioshi grins and hugs maverick "thank you dude!! We can help make it more like a home too?" Yurioshi states with a tilt to her head. "Well duh" Maverick says hugging her back. "Dude this is sick," Jill says looking around, slightly jealous of the hug maverick got. Yurioshi lets go of maverick, "have you shown your daughterrrr?" Yurioshi smiles so dose Jill look at maverick also wondering the same thing. "No- I haven't shown mixie," he says with a chuckle. "Wanna go get her?" Yurioshi groans, Jill following suit. "Thats so much more walking!" Jill says with a whine to his voice. "Okay, okay! I'll just call her," after a while of maverick being on the phone with the 12 year old mixie she said she was on the way.
