Bella wasted no time in jumping out of the car and heading straight for the front door of the Black residence. She seemed to forget I was there, which was exactly what I was hoping for. I followed behind her quietly. She pounded on the door which was answered seconds later by poor Billy Black. She ignored his excuses and protests and pushed past him quickly, muttering a quick apology. Well that was rude.
"Bella." I yelled. "You don't just ignore people when they don't want you in their house. That was rude." I protested to her indignantly. She ignored me, disappearing down the hall into what I assume was Jacob's room. She reemerged seconds later, looking angry and headed straight outside. She said something about not wanting to wake him on her way back through. She was headed outside with an expression that worried me.
"Bella?" I called after her. "Uh, Bella?" I jogged after her, then saw what she was headed for, or more specifically, who. Crap, it was the wolf boys. The last thing I needed was for one of those idiots to hurt her. "Bella, that is not a good idea." I shouted. She ignored me and continued her walk of fury. She began yelling at them. I picked up the pace. I arrived just as she attempted to shove Sam.
"What did you do to him? He didn't want this." Paul stepped forward threateningly. I pulled her back some and stepped in front of her. I met Paul's eyes, daring him to do something. Sam put a hand on his chest, giving him a similar warning. Bella behind me did not stop screeching despite the obvious strange behavior of the boys. You would think she would know something about strange behavior by now. Perhaps how strange behavior often meant danger.
'What did he tell you?" Sam questioned lowly. I gave him the same heated glare, and he ignored me. The nerve. Bella pushed past me, getting in their faces. What an idiot.
"Nothing. He told me nothing 'cause he's scared of you." she shrieked. Paul laughed. Bella turned toward him, I saw what she was thinking.
"Bella don't you-" I started. I saw her hand come up and slap Paul across the face. Great, she did it. Now what was I supposed to do? I threw up my hands. "Welp, you did it." Paul began to shake and I tugged Bella away, once again putting myself in front of her. Paul convulsed and there was a shredding of clothes. A giant wolf stood in his place, snarling. I heard Bella scream and run. Don't worry Bells, I probably won't be killed by the giant wolf. I know I put myself in front to protect her, but ow, she just left me. I shrugged it off for now and faced the wolf in front of me. Paul snarled at Bella behind me trying to go after her. I blocked his path trying to direct his attention toward me. I was focused solely on him, no one else was there as far as I was concerned.
"Hey, dog breath!" I shouted. "Did little Paul lose his temper again? He gets all angry, but then can't back up his threats. Unless, of course his threat is to lick you to death or kill you with the smell of his breath. Honestly, when was the last time you picked up a toothbrush, 'cause I'm smelling a mouthful of cavities." I sneered. Stupid petty insults. I just needed to keep him occupied. He growled loudly, and I dimly registered Sam yelling and both Paul and I. Hey, it's not my fault Paul decided to wolf out. I was just trying to protect Bella. Suddenly, it was Bella screaming. It wasn't in pain though, she was screaming the same thing. She was screaming for Jacob to run. She was screaming for him to run. What about me? Whatever, it doesn't matter right now. Abruptly there was another sound of fabric ripping, then a dark russet wolf barreled into Paul. I rolled my eyes, Jacob just had to be a hero. In reality I wasn't too upset. I had a major headache coming on and I was exhausted. I turned to check on Bella, she was on the ground, she probably fell, and was looking with wide eyes to where the fighting wolves had disappeared into the woods. She was fine. Sam growled incoherent words to himself, told the other boys to take us back to Emily's, and took off after the quarreling wolves.
Embry and Jared seemed to find the entire situation entirely amusing. Bella and I didn't share the same feeling. Bella was stunned to say the least, and terrified. However, I was angry. I was angry with Bella, Paul, Jacob, and the world. Bella because she slapped a werewolf when I told her she definitely shouldn't, Paul because he freaked out, Jacob because he was an idiot, and the world because this entire situation was stupid to begin with. So yeah, this is a great way to spend a day.
"All right, come on. We're taking you two back to Emily's." Jared announced motioning for us to get in the car.
"Yeah, how about no?" I fired back.
"Alpha's orders. You two are coming with us." Jared repeated.
"Come on Myla, let's just go with them." Bella muttered.
"Are you insane?" I shouted "How well do you know these guys? You thought they were a cult an hour ago!"
"Well, I was wrong." Bella defended.
"No kidding." I pointed out.
"Not to get in the middle of a friendly sibling argument, but we are kinda supposed to be going to Emily's." Embry interjected. I threw up my hands, giving up. If we got brutally murdered there by the wolf cult then it wasn't my fault. I stomped to the truck and climbed in.
About ten minutes later we pulled up to a cozy little house. The wolf boys both leapt out and walked toward the house. Embry suddenly stopped and looked back at Bella and I, who had both just climbed out of the truck.
"Come on, we don't bite." Embry laughed.
"Speak for yourself." Jared muttered, loud enough for us to hear.
"Bite me or even Bella for that matter, and I'll neuter you." I snapped. He at least had the decency to look a little worried before turning and walking into the house.
"Hey, and don't stare at Emily, it bugs Sam." Embry murmured to us before following after Jared. I sighed deeply to myself before striding into the house, Bella close behind me. We followed the boys to what I assumed was the kitchen. There was a woman there removing what smelled to be blueberry muffins out of the oven. She turned to smile at the two boys who had just strolled in, but paused when she saw us. I realized why Embry had warned us not to stare, Emily had three scars running down her face, they looked like claw marks. I had a feeling those were from Sam. Why else would he not want anyone to stare? I mean, staring is rude anyway, but he is probably more defensive since he caused them.
"Who's this?" Emily asked the boys.
"Bella and Myla Swan, who else?" Jared snorted.
"Ah, so you're the vampire girls." She said, vampire girl? Um, no. I jabbed a finger at Bella.
"She is. Just for future reference, I am most definitely not a vampire girl. The only reason I am around them is because I have to be. I also have to make sure they don't decide to turn Bella into a portable meal, 'cause then we'd have issues. If it was up to me I would be as far from them as possible, they're just weird. And-" I was cut off from my rant as Bella rammed her shoulder into mine. Everyone in the room, save for my sister, was attempting to hold back their laughter. I was still scowling when Sam, Paul, and Jacob walked in. Things were about to get real.
