The faint keow of the seagulls stretched across the blue sky, a sky so clear It mimicked the sea a few yards away. The sun ruled over the boulevard with special arduousness, the humid environment making the beach ahead an easy birdcall for many citizens. From there, a peculiar couple could smell the thick scent of shrubs and the saline freshness as they approached, even if It mixed with the putrid odor of the cars down the road and the stale air of the city.

The first man, a tall lanky one, scrunched up his nose, his never-ending smile widening tight. His companion frowned his thick-furrowed brow as he saw his behavior. It had been a very long time since they had come to Louisiana, and he also hadn't expected to find such a strong smell so close to the beach. Though he could only assume it was especially noxious due to the heated day they were having.

"Alastor, are you okay?"

His hoarse voice made Alastor relax his expression just as he turned to look at him.

"Why, I am doing splendid, Husker! Haven't you seen how good of a day It is? Never in a million years Hell could offer anything close!"

Despite his brightened smile, Husk couldn't help but scoff at the response. He knew Alastor was lying, of course he was. After all, he had been the one to propose a visit to the mortal world to see their sweet homeland again after more than sixteen years. It had been an arduous task to find the means to return, especially since sinners like them weren't supposed to access any artifact or permit like that. It was more than forbidden. Yet, even with so many efforts Alastor had put into that little trip, Husk could tell he had never thought that, naturally, Louisiana had changed with time. Even Husk, who had died decades later than Alastor, was still unable to recognize the place. It conserved some emblematic traits, but he knew that wasn't enough for Alastor...

"Come on, you can't possibly tell me that. It smells like shit".

Alastor rolled his eyes.

"Oh, please, when we get to the beach any trouble will vanish in the blink of an eye!"

Husk went to reply, but Alastor began to speed his pace, making Husk hurry to catch him.

"Hey, you asshole!"

As Husk and Alastor kept walking towards the white-sand beach, the bustling of people was hard to avoid. Husk tensed up for a moment, crossing his arms and slouching more than usual. Meanwhile, his companion maintained a poised nonchalant demeanor, holding the parasol and towel in one hand. Even if Alastor has promised him the human disguises would work, Husk couldn't help but wonder how. As he looked at his companion, all Husk could see was the same seven foot tall demon of red fur and deer ears with a smile full of fangs sharp as daggers. His flowery motif red shirt and his short pants could at least help him blend in more than a 1920's swimwear, but no one would believe Alastor or him, a giant cat man with red wings, were anything other than monsters.

"Are you sure these costumes are working? Some stupid swim pants won't make me look less of a freak, you know?"

He whispered as he leaned closer to Alastor. However, the red-headed man simply chuckled.

"Husker, do not worry your fuzzy head about It. I can assure no one is looking at us".

Husk grunted, not pleased with Alastor's tone, but he needed to make sure what he had said was true, so he searched for eyes staring at them or taking pictures with their phones, but nothing. They were all busy with their own things, chatting between friends and partners, buying something cheap at a nearby store or walking towards the beach like they themselves were doing.

"Did you make us invisible?"

Husk inquired.

"What a silly imagination you have. I didn't know It was possible from you, my dear"
